  1. Personal Introduction: My name is Britton and I am an addict...jk but seriously though haha. Career wise I am a mechanical engineer but I prefer to consider myself a jack of many trades and a master of none. I am constantly tinkering on something, working any number of projects, and tossing ideas around in my head constantly (both a blessing a curse). Anyways, I've been into Jeeps since I could drive and this is officially the 4th Jeep I have owned. 1999 2 door XJ 5 speed, 4.0L, 3.5" lift, 265/75/16 BFG ATs on TJ Rubicon wheels, overhead console, cruise control.
  2. Hey so its been a while since Ive posted on here but I got rid of my TJ about 2 months ago to free up some funds and a month later got an XJ. Its a '95 Country with the 4.0 Auto and the girlfriend has named him Eugene. Well here's the day I picked it up. and this is the interior It had but this isn't my picture. Since I got it I have had a good bit of work on my hands. I went to OBX beginning of the month and knew I wanted to bring it so I had to beat the clock. With that in mind I had the Jeep Shop throw a 3" Skyjacker lift on for me to save time, not to mention I couldn't really do it
  3. So first, lemme preface this by saying that i have always wanted to build a 97+ converted MJ, in fact i have spent a few years researching the swap and i finally had things lined up to do the swap, including 2001 XJ and an 89 MJ... But life happened and i had to relocated from Florida to Kansas. I had spent several months using a website the searches all of craigslist looking for something interesting to pick up when i came across this. It was 1,000 miles away in New Mexico, made the 26 hour drive in 30. A built Comanche that had been converted to the 99 XJ drivetrain with a 2001 XJ

  6. I’m trying to swap a 1992 XJ gauge cluster out a “country” package, into my 1988 MJ Pioneer. I can’t seem t find a proper wiring diagram for either of the models gauge cluster plugs and need some help. I have to use the XJ clusters plug so I need to splice it into the MJs wiring, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. Photobucket ruined all versions of this build on the internet, and people have asked on other forums if I had the old pictures. I do, but it's a lot to sort though, so I've basically decided to post the build over from the beginning, just much more condensed than it was originally. I am going to upload everything to Imgur, so hopefully they don't pull a Photobucket at some point, but we could cross that bridge when the time comes. Since I was doing that anyways I figured I'd throw it in here, as it really takes no added effort and some of it is applicable to the MJ platform. The
  8. Well I need some help figuring out how to wire these running lights... I have a 1990 mj that I am about 90% done with a 97 swap just basically buttoning up all the small issues now. I have the drive train and dash with harnesses out of a 2001 xj I left my mj rear harness and have been plugging wires figuring out what goes to what and have narrowed the majority of it all down I have my stop lights reverse lights brake lights and turn signals but for the life of me I can’t seem to figure out how to wire these damn running lights from the 2001 dash harness to the rear mj harness I wish now I woul
  9. I know there are many threads that explain this procedure but another won't hurt from someone elses experience. So, this weekend I am starting the dual diaphragm conversion on my 1989 MJ. To start off, here are the tools and equipment I have so far: 1996 XJ Brake Booster and Master Cylinder (bought off of JC Whitney) $170 (2) 3/16 diameter bubble flared with 10mm fitting brake lines STANDARD flare tool (rented from auto parts store) (1) 12mm thread 3/16 diameter line, fitting (1) Vacuum Tool (4) 10mm stop or lock nuts (1) Line cutter The four 10mm nuts are for the brake booster.
  10. Does anyone know if there is a write up on how to swap the newer +97 XJ front doors on to a MJ? I would like to know how involved it is before I go Buy the doors. Thanks
  11. I will finish up the sanding on the body and put on the black doors from the XJ and then I will no longer be able to work on the truck. I started the project in 2015 and then left home for two years, now that I'm home and don't have my own transportation I need to get a car quick to start school. If you search for the "Hawaii Jeeps" you should see most of my build process with this truck. The XJ had 118,000 miles on it, the MJ had 130,000 miles on it. As of right now, it is an empty shell with half of the 2000 XJ body panels on it (I will put the doors on as soon as the new lock pins come in t
  12. HI I am new to this community but not to Jeep forums. I tried being active on Cherokee Forum, but I decided to not spend too much on my XJ. I daily drive an XJ and used to want to build it up. However I have always loved the MJ platform and that was what I wanted in the first place. Well I officially got the title to a 1991 Jeep Comanche I bought at the end of January. So it is official and I can dump money in it and start a build thread. I bought it mainly for being a straight body with no rust. It will be a long project but hopefully done by the end of the year.

  16. Does anyone have a few of these laying around in good shape? I popped mine out to repaint the actually caps, and all but the last one came out without struggle. The last one shattered into several pieces... Typical. I'd like at least two in good shape. The one in the top, right has some of the chrome ring missing... Willing to pay some, but not looking to spend a bunch. They came from the center caps pictured below:
  17. I am going to look at a XJ that is for sale. I talked with the owner and he can't afford to pay the mechanic to work on it anymore so he is cutting his losses and buying another car. He has owned it for 4 years and three weeks ago it started blowing fuel pump fuses. He kept replacing them and then it eventually quite blowing them. It still would not start so he took it to mechanic. The mechanic found motor oil in the PCM?? Ya weird he was baffled to because he said the engine has no major oil leaks. So they replaced it with a junkyard PCM and still no spark or fuel. They replaced CPS and still

  19. I'm in search for solid vent/ wing windows for my jeep comanche. My current moveable vent/ wing windows leak. I'm willing to trade or sell my moveable windows for a solid. PM me if you are interested in helping me!
  20. I got a 2000 XJ as my first car, I bought it from my neighbor who had served in the marines stationed on the Hawaiian islands. Three years later, after spending endless time, money, sweat, and blood on it. Someone rear-ended me, totaled the Jeep and bent the uni-frame out of shape. I had always liked comanches and cherokees, so I decided I would find an MJ to transfer my XJ's heart, soul, and skin on to. I found a 1989 Eliminator in Lake Havasu City, Arizona with 130,000 miles, rust free, and a clean title. It was too good to let go. After an 8 hour drive through a ton of desert and Las vegas
  21. So, as some of you know, my MJ has a utility bed on it currently. Found out that it is partially welded to the frame, which is lame. Pics are in my build thread. I have a standard MJ bed on my project that I want to swap on, most likely. Or might even consider a flatbed of sorts. Anyways, for those of you who have done flat bed or other bed type swaps, what did you do for fuel tank mounting. I was thinking maybe just a couple pieces of steel running across the frame from side to side. Even if I swap a factory bed, I think it will make things easier overall. Thoughts, concerns, or constr
  22. So its been done before but theres no clear guide that i can see that tells you what length cables you need for a handbrake setup compared to the foot brake. Anybody know a good match for a short bed?

(Jeep letters are Rustoleum bedlinded) $10 shipped. Image Not Found 1 pair of mix matched mirrors. $20 shipped. Image Not FoundImage Not Found 97+ XJ fog light switch panel and 84-96 XJ fog light switc
  24. Does anybody have any insight or experience removing the factory, integrated trailer hitch from an '88 XJ? It's the kind that bolts to the rear bumper, in addition to the frame rails (see below). I want to put a standard 2" Reese hitch and use a drop shank to accommodate my lift, but I'm kind of stumped on how to remove this one.
