what was everyones first car/truck? i'm talking something that you drove, not a garage queen.

my first car was a 93 XJ country 4x4 in Navajo turquoise and gold . i bought it off my mother. i beat the living crap out of it (hell i was eighteen). and it just kept begging for more. sold it with 105 on the clock because i found a wrangler i liked... wish i would have kept it ... i had the pleasure of seeing it again last weekend .. its still on the road...8years later ... a lil rusty but still running!

"My first car" could have many meanings.

First that I was allowed to drive with any regularity: Dad's '86 Aerostar (v6, stick shift :D ) -long gone

First that I could even have remotely considered "mine": Mom's old '85.5 Escort (stick, last year for the carb) -long gone

First used that I bought: my '88 MJ (2wd at the time) -still have

First new that I bought: '2000 Dakota R/T -still have

Man what a great thread:

1966 Buick Electra 2 dr with 401 wildcat engine my high school ride in Subic Bay Phillipines 1977-79(Dad's car)

1972 Datsun 510 with Mulholland suspension, mikuni/offenhauser (my first for $1,500 in 1980)

I wish I paid the bucks to have that Buick shipped back here to the states I sure miss that car. Didn'r get a truck until Oct of 87 1988 Nissan hardbody 4 cyl.

1st car that was 'mine' was an '84 olds cutlass. Hated it with a passion (I despise GM) but it was free and made it through highschool.

1st car I bought (with my grandmother cosigned) was a '90 honda accord. That was my 'boom boom' stereo phase. had 2 10's that hit 144 dB.

1st car I bought BY MYSELF was a '98 dodge dakota. 318 auto trans...FAST little truck.

1st jeep was '85 XJ 4 bngr 4 spd 2wd. Couldn't drive it more than 15 minutes without over heating...lucky for me I was only 5 minutes from work where I lived.

I have loved jeeps ever since and have owned '85XJ, 3 '98 XJ's, 3 '99 XJ's, a '97 TJ, an '86 MJ, and now have an '85 J-10 soon to be a trail rig and my '91 MJ DD that I love dearly. Only had it for a couple months and it will NEVER leave my ownership!!

first car that was "mine"

1972 vw beetle baja conversion. $300 in decent shape but needed work to run (had learned how to work on vw's because of having sandrails previously).

that never went on the road, I traded it for a 1985 volkswagon cabriolet straight up, bought tires for the cabrio, installed a stereo, and patched the roof.

that was in august after my junior year of high school. sold it in january of my senior year (regret it, that was a damn good car), for $1300...after spending $1100 for a complete new rear end, as I knocked the old one out of the car while attempting to drift. it didn't owe me anything though.

when I sold that, the $1300 payed for 2/3 of the paint job on the 3800, my 1986 jeep comanche that was originally 2wd 4 speed 2.8 and bench seat. payed $300 for that truck, with a total of $6300 invested in it today.

now in an 86 cherokee (not for long) as well, and soon to be getting a pair of xj's that I can make one that's already lifted out of.

and that doesn't even encompass the 2 other driving MJ's I've had, and all 7 or 8 parts MJ's and xj's :D

First car that I bought: 1994 ford ranger. My dad bought it from me about a week later because he really liked it and I was having major buyer's remorse (I was 15)

First car I drove: a 2000 VW TD jetta. My dad gave it to me to drive when I sold him the ranger.

First that I call mine: 1989 Yellow MJ. Still have. Had her a year and a month now.

THIS IS THE FUNNY ONE:

First car that I was forced to buy: 1994 honda civic DX. It was my brothers and then I wrecked. I bought it from him and fixed her up.

My first and only truck to date (heck I'm only 15) 1988 MJ that I bought for 400$ jamminz.gif on my birthday this year. Only thing wrong with it is that its 2wd, and has a little rust on the back-left wheel well and the floorboards are rusted (need to get that repaired). In process of restoration since I can't drive untill I'm 16.

66 C-10 Chevy pickup. That thing was a tank. Had air adjustable shocks in the rear and coil lugs up front with 50's on white wagon wheels. jamminz.gif In less than 2 minutes I could slam it to the ground by letting the air out the shocks and removing the spring lugs. :brows:

First new car was a 87 Subaru XT. The wedge. :D

this is a cool thread..

my first car was a 1970 dodge challenger r/t me and my stepdad drove to oklahoma to get it.. it had a 440 with 4.10s and locked in the rear.. it was mean.. but he said it was too much and we put a crate 360 with a .509 cam.. and he put some regular 2.76s or something highway gears in it.. but it was a great car.. i sold it after some girl hit me in it destroying it beyond repair. since then ive owned a 1974 360 4spd cuda tripple black a 1946 cj2a i restored a 1953 cj3a that was built for rockcrawling (chevy 350, 44s, 5.89s and 36s) a 1986 cherokee 2.8 v6 and my 2 comanches.

ohh man I wish I didn't see this thread, cause it reminded me of how much I miss my ol'e babeh..

was a 1985 Chevy Blazer/Silverado K-5,

I'm with you wakka... My dad gave me his old beater truck, a 62 Chevy longbed. I didn't take care of it and it ended up as being parted out then crushed..

First thing I bought on my own was a 78 CJ7 with a Chevy 283 power pack engine, it had tsl 15-35-15 super swawpers with 4" RC springs a T176 with a dana 300, Spun 3 hubs and twisted a drive shaft in two before the crank broke. That was when I was 16 now I'm 31 and just sold the dana 300 to a friend for his jeep when I bought the ecco rims for my mj. But my first real 4x4 was a 84 toy 4 runner.... Man I miss that truck.. 4:10 solid axles with a wide track rearend swapped in. only had a lil 22R but that thing would crawl anywhere. I swear the ratio was like 8 to 1 in low. Sold it  b4 I went to Bragg for basic. Now my whips are a 96 JDM H22A Prelude, 96 Rodeo, and my newest addition to the family my 89 2wd Eliminator that I stole for 250. Got more than that in it already.. Wow talk about a trip down memory lane...

1989 comanche... my pride and joy, bought her off NAXJA, a guy in cleveland, GA.

1,400 with 175k on the clock and a newer 97 4.0 with 130k on it, overheated constantly ran at 250 and i thought it was a gauge issue... hahhh was i wrong, replaced radiator and alot of other stuff and now she's back to cool. love this truck, rolled over 196k a week ago.

(bought it at 16 in January of 2006 with a loan from my stepdad and paid him off sometime last year)

First vehicle I was bought: '85 GMC 2500 HD.

Lifted it 2" in the front to fit some 33s, and learned how to tune a carb. Oh boy, did I learn how to tune a carb. 350/th400/np208. Eventually rolled it, and now it sits in need of a new motor and body work.

First vehicle I bought: '84 Toy

Straight axle, swapped in 20R. Took the bed off, Chevy 63s with the frame hacked where the buggy leaves mounted and no doors. Sure did wreck that truck.
