A Copy Of The Parking Brake Recall?
a1awind replied to XJs4Ever's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if its a saftey they legally do have to preform the work. back in 05 when i worked at All American ford in tallahassee we had a beat-to-hell 89 ford probe come in for a saftey recall on the automatic seatbelts. trust me... it was the least of this cars problems (the blow-by on the 3.0 under the hood was so bad that if you removed the oil cap the car stalled).... but we did the work. -
So How Do These Shoes (Wheels) Look?

I wish I could use the shifters out of the junked fx4. Its a manual and if you are familiar with what the fx4 specific shifter looked like...it would look pretty cool -

i went ahead and pulled the trigger. i had my buddy take the 31's off. its a shame....they had nice tread on the outer tread but the middle was smooth as a babys @$$. but they are 15x7 so i guess my tires will fit for now.... once i go 4x4 ill get some big meats. -
How did someone blow a crd? The only thing I ever hear is the timing belt snaping...but from what ive read they are designed to take out the rockers rather than bend the valves.

yeah, that is why the back is still up on the jack in the pic. it fits in the front...but just so. the rear just didnt fit over the dust cover....a little light grinding at the littlr lip on the inside of the hole and it will fit... i was considering having a machine shop do this. but $125 for all 4 (friend price) i think its a deal. -
yea ? nay? they are ranger fx4 level II alcoas. they kinda fit (there is a lip where the hub comes through that needs ground down.)

a1awind replied to a1awind's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok....so a buddy of mine suggested that I drop in a 4.0 ho...and instead of rewiring the whole truck, use a megasquirt stand alone computer to run the engine as a stand alone...possible,? -
Odd Thing I Noticed About My Turn Signals
a1awind replied to a1awind's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok...good to know. Thanks. I may change it over...its annoying having all that light and no turn signal -
apart from my right "in dash indicator" not working(....i think i need a bulb....but i am gonna wait and do a full led conversion ) i noticed that i have 1 turn signal on each side....below the headlight. I distinctly remember my 93 cherokee having the side marker lights that doubled as turn signals too (they would flash in sync with the one under the headlight in the day, and alternate at night) when did jeep start making the side marker a turn signal rather than just a parking light....or do i have a problem?

Yes, as a matter of fact, you can lol. http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/engine/154-0911-505-performance-turbo-system-for-jeep-4-cylinder/ it looks as if they only have kits for mopar fuel injection ones -

Well as clean as it is ...I don't plan on driving her in the winter...so I guess I can get a renix donor and take the winter to do it..... but can you turbo a renix 2.5? -

a1awind replied to a1awind's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok...to quash the confusion here... I have an 87 2wd 2.5 4cyl. I want more power and eventually 4wd. I love the 4.0 and have owned many a jeep with it....except a comanche! (The 4.0 powered ones that pop up for sale on craigslist around here are usually not in very good shape at all or are modded to hell and back...and not in a nice kinda way.) So I bought this 4 cyl one because its so clean and I figured an angine swap would be a cake walk.....oops!. I have a tiny little garage with not enough room to swap an engine if it takes more than a sunny weekend. -

right.....i didnt know i would be doing the entire truck vs just the under dash harness with a renix 4.0. perhaps i would be further ahead stress wise, by just putting a volvo turbo with a 6lb blowoff on my 2.5? i have a buddy that owns a junkyard, may have a volvo or two. should put me at 178hp by my calculation (10hp per lb of boost) anybody on here done that to a renix engine? I really hate this....i find a super clean comanche and its a freakin 4cyl (i really don't care about 4wd never been much of an off roader but i do plan on converting it eventually) -

I think the cherokee is a 92 or 93....its def pre 97 -
ok so a buddy of mine "hard rolled" his cherokee ...so the body is destroyed to the point its useless.....it still starts and runs fine. he offered to sell me it as a donor. its a H.O (i figured that if its no less work to install a renix 4.0 i might as well do the H.O) apart from the stuff i can get off the donor... what am i gonna need? i know fuel pump...(or will the cherokee one work?) and some exhaust work. how long should this take a couple competent mechanics to do this assuming we don't hit any snags (yeeaahh....that will happen) can it be done in a weekend?
-
So in that case...is it more or less the same amount of work to swap in a H.O?
-
Ok so perhaps I had my lines crossed. When people said wiring harness I thought that meant rewiring the whole truck front to back! So all I have to get (as long as it has the c101) is the "under hood" wiring? If so, that works out because I am a novice. And was not looking forward to dropping the dash and yanking the interior. ....may have an 88 donor lined up
-
so i changed my O2 sensor and that really helped it but after doing all the crap to my mj that everyone told me (including cleaning the goop out of my c101.) it still idles rough. it was running kinda smotth last night when i got home from dinner with friends. i stopped in the alley to take my sleeping daughter into the house before i pulled into the garage. when i came back out it was idleing fine and then...for a split second it sputtered then almost died...then when right back to normal idle....wtf? the way it idles when its warmed up is ....well....its wavy FEELING. like, you can feel a very fast wavy vibration (like brum brum brum brum) in the steering wheel when you are at idle. but it doesnt sound wavy. seems to show up again at 55mph but that maybe a different issue...but it feels the same. any thoughts? EGR? MAP?
-
soo....lemmie throw in a question here.... i want to swap in a 4.0....it HAS TO be the cheapest way/easiest way possible. would finding a renix 4.0 cherokee/mj donor be the easiest way of doing this? i am trying to avoid the nightmare of a rewire. and ultimately ending up with a partially dissasembled comanche permanently occupying my garage.

Dodge Slant-6 Engine.
a1awind replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It came in three different sizes, with the 225 cid being the most notable since it was the best one. I'd love to do a swap like this, convert it to MPFI and use the Renix ECM to run the whole set up. Only problem that I have seen in my little research finding a suitable transmission to run behind it... AX15 is out of the question without heavy modification/custom adapters and anything 4x4 would be a ton of work. But, with a 2bbl carb, I've heard people were getting 30 mpg back 40 years ago on some of these. I imagine with some level of EFI, you could get at least the upper 20's for mpg for sure. I had an 83 d100 royale long bed 2wd. it was a 225ci six with a 727TF behind it. 1 barrel carb. rated at 90hp (seemed like a hell of a lot more...i never was really wanting for more power with that truck) i drove a mixed cycle at that time 24 miles each way i averaged 25 mpg. even though it was a beat up old farm truck....it still ooozed cool. i had it the same time as my 98 s10 2wd 4 cyl. the s10 got the same mpg across my commute as the full size dodge!!!! to be fair the little chevy got 33mpg straight hwy... so it was the go to for road trips. -
For an oil additive....marvel mystery oil or lucas?
