  1. :dunce: i missed the 'renix'
  2. so any cherokee with a 4.0L would have the same engine bay harness then? my dad and i replaced and rewired the fuse box, in cab part, kept the original undash harness when i first brought it home because the insides of the original fuse box was completely corroded, so a lot of electrical stuff wasn't workin. once it was replaced everything was working like it was supposed to for at least a year but things went down hill after i lost power to my fuel pump which was back in like september or october. well i got the hanes and chilton books for diagrams.
  3. is the wiring harness the same in the comanches and xjs? i am talkin about both ends of the fuse box
  4. alright, i will check that out tomorrow. i don't have my truck with me at the moment.
  5. that little thing that looks like where you put air in your tires, hmm i was wondering what that was for. what would be good pressure?
  6. you must have read wrong or i had made a mistake putting that i replaced the fuel pump. i tried to replace it but couldn't find the right one, and i found out it wasn't the pump, the hot wire to the pump wasn't gettin any juice so i hot wired it and it was up and running again, but that was months ago. how would you go about checkin fuel pressure? i am drawing a blank. what i seen when i flipped the fuel pump switch, there was quite a bit of gas being pumped out. i don't know if the amount being pumped is any indication of the pressure.
  7. i had the pump out like two months or three months ago i can't remember exactly, but the hose was in pretty good condition, seemed almost to be brand new. i don't want to go through takin out the pump again, it was a pain. i haven't had any problems with it stuttering, other than when i accelerate fast, and i am thinkin that is caused by the hot wiring i did, rather than finding the electrical problem, and replacing the ballast resistor. i did however by a new resister and plugged it in, but the hot wire for the resistor starts to smoke so i don't have the wires plugged into the resistor. fei: this truck has a lot of electrical problems
  8. i have been using 89 for gas. after i fixed the fuel pump it started stuttering, and my buddy said its water in the gas, so use a higher octane to burn the water up, and it stopped stuttering, so since then i have been using 89. for the cold start and idle, i was never told it was bad, so my mistake, but i will keep that in mind from now on.
  9. well just recently i went out to start my truck up, it's been cold out, so i usually go outside and start it up once a day and let it run for about five minutes or so. well i went out started it up one day, it ran for about five minutes and died on me. i know there is gas in the tank, about a quarter tank. i know that the fuel is bein pumped because i pulled the fuel line from the engine and turned the pump on and gas start flowing out. i checked the plug wires for sparks, all sparked. anyone have any idea what it could be or what to check? this just adds the the big ol list of crap that is wrong with it at the moment.
  10. well i bought a new ballast resistor, and plugged it in. smoke started coming off of one of the wires. so i think i have a short somewhere. not that surprising from this jeep. it's got way to many eletrical problems.
  11. i replaced my fuse box already, but am still having more electrical problems than i want. eh i don't think they do make them, i looked and looked and looked. found wiring harnesses but they were made specifically for the comanches. well i am assuming i will need to pull one from a 4L but are there any other things that the harness and truck will have to have in common.
  12. well i bought a new one, i am pretty sure my other one was bad by the fact that the center of it was black, and then i broke it. i plugged the new one in and then thought i would test the wires to see if any current was flowing, but there was nothing. so i left it unplugged. then this morning i plugged the wires back in and the wire started smoking, so i don't know what is going on.
  13. is it possible to get a full wiring setup for these trucks brand new, fusebox, cab wiring, engine bay wiring?
  14. bump gotta get this figured out i am moving to new mexico this jan.
