  1. 1995 XJ. 4.0 AW4, the usual outfit for a 4dr XJ. Has 'moments' as the woman likes to call them. As you're driving (any speed/rpm. Issue is not dependent on these two factors) it will lose RPM momentarily, bounce back and then die. No sputter as if losing fuel, seems to be more of an ign problem. I've replaced the coil dizzy/cap and rotor assembly when I first diagnosed a short to ground within the distributor. MOST times it will require a few minutes to sit, as cranking it over results in nothing. Sometimes I smell unburnt fuel out the tailpipe and sometimes I do not. The CPS is less than a year old. Anyone experienced anything like this? It does it about once a week, with about 4-5 days between 'moments' I have recently found that unplugging the TPS, it will fire up and then I plug it back in to continue my rudely interrupted journey. *edit* The fuel pump is brand new, about a month old. Maintains pressure, ect.
  2. Oh wow! Those are so awesome!
  3. You guys are hilarious! I found this place when I was 16. 1989 SporTruck 2.5/AX-4 22 in on 8/23/11
  4. Factory 'Street Comanche' fairings and body kit. What a waste.
  5. JeepCo has owned how many of them from Wisc or just over state-lines around? He posted a # the other day, or over FaceBook - It was well into double-digits.
  6. That rig looks very familiar to my eye. I want to say he is a member here, but I'm unsure.
  7. TPS wasn't plugged in all the way. Started checkin' fuses and probing wires - knocked the plug out. Shiftin' nice now.
  8. Bring a magnet to check for Bondo. Any rust = not worth what they are asking (Unless the price is sub $500) Common sense, don't pay a grand for something you can see thru side to side. A good runner can have higher miles - check the frame at the rear hangers for rot - the cab/floor will be rough if it hasn't been taken care of. Be wary of 1987-mid 1989 Manual Trans Comanches.
  9. Yeah, tech for my new XJ. Y'all will help anyway, right? :D 95 4.HO XJ AW-4 / NP231. Placing the shifter handle in D - the jeep will NOT shift out of first. I can manually shift it from 1-2 -> 3 with the lever and it dumps into 3rd gear. Am going to start with fuses but are there any other telltale things I should check? My MJ's AW-4 hasn't given me many issues, none related to non-shifting at that. Halp! :dunce:
  10. Bought a minty '95 XJ Sport. Fleet package, only been in Ontario 4 years - prior to that she was an Albertan XJ. Needs a CPS. Bought a new one, yanked the front d/s and am left with a few more questions. What are the bolt head size? What's the easiest way to get the beggar out?
  11. Centre Pin removal. Special tools? Sad to say - last time I got a good step-by about going thru a diff, I was as drunk as the ol'e lad explaining it to me!
  12. Just a quick answer-topic. How do you remove the rear shafts and then spider gears?
  13. Argh! That is *THE* wheel setup I want Skinny Swampers on 10-spoke Turbines
  14. The pack(s) I have are on the 3rd re-arch. They are in dire need of replacement. Was hoping to do a bastardpack with S-10/Exploder springs and a new MJ main. There's a good spring shop a bit north of town, guy at work said two new mains for his '81 F-350 was $140 with new shackles, bushings and bolts. Should be my best bet. Thanks for the info too!
  15. Hrm. Tax return is on its way to me, once my CC is paid off I'll have $500 to throw around. Thanks! :D
