Can't count, in my defense the last one was obscured (dunce)

As a proud owner of two 7 8-slot equipped trucks, I will happily admit that I prefer the 10-slot. The 21 slot looks good on certain colors of truck too, but the 10 slot is the winner.

10 slots for me.

On another forum, someone wrote that "real Jeeps have 7 slots."  Another person replied that the original WW2 MBs/GPWs had 10 slots. I don't remember if there was a reply.

'86-87 were 10 slot, '88 up were 8 slot according to the parts catalog, however, I've seen many '88s with the 10 slot but don't know if they were original.

They’re all great but I’m partial to the 10 slot. If I see a 10 slot coming down the road I check it out because if it isn’t an MJ it’s a mid 80s xj which are fewer and far between up here in New England.

7 slots? You guys need to learn how to add.

WRONG! I'm the most bestest at numbers. Everyone's talking about how good my numbers are, the very best.

There was never a 7-slot grille on a factory MJ. Jeep got away from the 7 slots, not only with the XJ and MJ but also with several other models over the years. Then Daimler-Chrysler bought AMC but did NOT buy AM General (the makers of the Humvee), and AM General started selling Hummers to the general public with 7 slot grilles. At that point, Daimler-Chrysler/Jeep decided that the 7-slot grille was a Jeep trademark, and they sued AM General. I don't recall the result of the case, but I think Daimler-Chrysler lost. After that, Jeep was suddenly more diligent in making certain that ALL Jeep models had 7-slot grilles -- including the 1997 Cherokee update. So, if you want a Comanche with a 7-slot grille, update to the new header and grille.

The full size Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer/Cherokee/J-Truck had lots of different grills to choose from.  None of them had 7 slots.

The M715 family had a grill that was the closest to the first generation military Jeep.  It was literally just flat bars welded together in a grid, bolted up in front of the radiator.

I like them all provided they're installed right side up!

Just turn the Jeep over!

I like it! Do you have any other closer up pictures of the grill. I am thinking of doing something similar.
