Ugh!! If it had a brushguard, this would be my dream build!

Typo, fixed it.

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it.

I do have an 86 wiring book that I should be able to take a look at this evening and see what’s going on.

Well 3 days of driving and all is good again. I’m getting more comfortable driving it, understanding the CEC system better and learning what a car needs when it has AC loading the engine down. Also @89 MJ found me a set of wheel covers. Damn near NOS too and fits the car really well. It’s more or less complete minus a rear wiper arm. -
86 2.5 Running rough/ stalling issue

Sounds like a fun weekend date with the vac lines haha. I think I have a pic somewhere of my MJ of how the lines are supposed to be. Luckily 87-90 remained the same. But sounds like the EGR is essentially being opened and causing your issue. Which yeah actually if you open the EGR on a setup that runs fine, it’ll bog down and or die. -

Of course! Sounds like a weekend of starting out with the easy stuff and going from there. Id start with replacing vac lines just because at this point they’re 40 years old. If yours is an 86, there’s a TSB to replace the rubber block at the base of the TB with just regular vac lines. -
86 2.5 Running rough/ stalling issue

A little high but should be fine. What I like to do in situations like this if I can get the engine to run and stay running, I’d start unplugging things and seeing what changes. What’s the history on your MJ? I almost wonder if the ISA has been messed with. I also recall having some similar issue where I could get the engine to run right during the time it had a bad headgasket and unplugging the MAP would usually make it run better. I almost think the ISA could be adjusted too low by the PO and now your basically fixing their “fixes”. -

What CC knows about stock Jeep radios
eaglescout526 replied to NickyV's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I have split the radio knowledge to a new thread. It’s titled under what we as CC know about the radios while keeping the integrity and legacy of Minuit separate from what we figure out collectively. -

Well while trying to tune it, the starter decided to act up. Being tight on money I decided to take a look. Turns out the bendix return spring popped out of place. Popped it back in, reassembled the starter and should be good to go back in and not be a problem. i am paranoid as all hell about the cooling system. Hopefully I’ll have a simple easy drives to and from work and it’ll be solved. also yes I’ll get a pic of the radiator in place. -
Well I’ll be damned. That sucks. Shame tears are too small as I have those laying around.

Are TBI Injectors Noisy?

Well it sounds right and healthy. Are you missing much of the air filtration system? -
Are TBI Injectors Noisy?

Oh that’s pretty loud. Typically you shouldn’t be able to hear it from inside the cab unless you don’t have the bonnet on. Or it’s being amplified by an empty air box. -

So I bought it off eBay originally. But the seller contacted me and asked me which one I need and then sold me the right one while refunding me the one I bought which was the cheaper and smaller core. Guess they have two styles in stock and didn’t have them appropriately listed. But seems like finding a radiator that’s factory is few and far between. Part numbers are 579 in the performance radiator catalog and the one I received today is TSM 433579 which is basically the same. Last I looked on eBay the seller has one or two but I hope that’s correct. Looks like we have a range from 74-88 though. -

Well….here I am. Admitting that the radiator was a problem. Using the heater in the winter fooled me pretty well until it got hot out. So the old one was clogged. @89 MJ spent about 6 hours trying to unclog the old one. We almost succeeded. Almost. He left i and decided to play with the strong acids to clean it out and suffice to say it was going pretty damn good. Till a pocket of acid stuck around and eroded the solder away at the upper tank. Damn. So I hunted down a new one and to my absolute surprise found one. Damn near close to factory spec. Even the fittings for the trans fit pretty well. And now we’re here. The shroud went on without a hitch and now I’m cleaning it to where it’ll be more presentable. I should have no more cooling issues after this. And if I do. Well i dont know what to do then. But everything looked healthy. I even opted to swap to an aluminum water pump just for giggles and will be putting the 7 blade fan back on cause I think it can handle it.
