These guys have been going at it on and off all morning. Makes a guy a little nervous. If we zoom out a little…

heat pump died and I can't get the part I need until monday because the local hvac store doesn't carry Trane parts.:fistshake2:  so it looks like my folks are roughin' it a bit this weekend.  and by roughin' it, I mean I fired up the wood stove and put space heaters in my parents' bedroom and bathroom.  :D  they'll be pretty comfortable.  I really like having that wood stove as an option.  :grinyes:

This is BS

Nah. Can’t go skiing without snow. Our local hill had to postpone opening for a week because they haven’t had enough. This is all we’ve had so far at valley bottom this year.

They’ve had a little more at the base of the ski hill, roughly 2000’ higher, but not by much… they’ve been snowmaking ‘round the clock for the last two weeks and still not enough.
And we’re pretty well only at minimum ice thicknesses too now for pond skating. Usually we get a good month of skating before ski season.

Wood stove would be nice right about now. Went from no snow to all of it in the last couple days, and it’s still coming. Ski hill actually bumped their opening day back up by one, and I’m pretty psyched. It’s enough we’re already closing highways for avalanche control.

So Joe and I are dead-set novices when it comes to welding. His '66 Monterey Breezeway sedan needed exhaust baaaad, and we scored mostly factory dual exhaust and manifolds from a '66 Galaxie with the same 390 engine. BUT, the Monterey is a smidge longer than the Galaxie, so we had to weld in pipe extensions. For those of you experts who do weld, please go easy on us. Joe did the welds on the left pipe (bottom pic), I did the welds on the right pipe (top pic). What did each of us do wrong? These were done with a Lincoln TIG welder, and Joe had set the controls, so I don't have the particulars.
