they make a great offroad platform. light, strong and tough. I love that extra wheelbase over the XJ and 2dr wranglers. I imagine you're not seeing the stock MJs much for sale because the owners are driving them instead of selling them.

how much of a project are you looking for? how much do you want to spend?

I've seen that guys have managed to use cut-down XJ panels. not sure how well it fits the rear wall though.

how destroyed? can it be restored or replicated by a local auto upholstery shop?

yup, you'll want to buy a whole XJ for the parts.

yup, goes right in (though I had to use a pair of pliers to get it into place).

and I can vouch that water shedding still happens fine with them backwards. is it better when forwards? maybe. but I never had any problems with either Michigan or Georgia downpours. it feels more like a scammy "upsell" design than anything else (we got them on sale so I figured why not). if they truly were that much better than normal tires, they'd all be that way by now instead of a tiny, tiny fraction of tires being that way.
