  1. Lately I’ve been taking after my father jpnjim and learning all I can about Comanches, I’ve been to this forum multiple times over the past few years and just recently decided to join and post. If you are not familiar with this truck I’ll tell you about it. Its a 1989 pioneer short bed 2wd and column shift auto and the bulletproof 4.0 it is a manual window, no ac, low option low mileage truck currently having about 53k miles. The interior is nearly perfect and the exterior just needs a little work to be spot on. It’s a great truck. My dad had put on 97+ mirrors, a bed liner, and a tonneau cover along with the non idiot light gauge pack. Also adding a metric ton leaf setup in the back and some sagged 3” coils on the front and some 29” snow tires to make it movable in the snow up here. I proceeded to sometime around last year bring the truck out of its parking spot where it was for a few years, and get it ready for when I got my license. I washed, polished, and cleaned it up just in time to get my license. And recently I’ve started modifying by removing the bed liner and putting on the oldstyle mirrors along with painting the inside of the bed. Below I’ll post some before and after shots. 2. Hey guys I’m new to the forum and I’m not sure I understand how to use it I tried looking this up but the first like 10 pages don’t show what I’m looking for and I got too lazy to keep scrolling so apologize for that. i picked up a 89 Comanche about a month ago it’s got the 4.0 with the ax15 it’s 2 wheel drive and so far I’ve picked up a Dana 30 at a local junk yard I’m wanting to know what else I will need I’m having trouble finding an AX15 that’s 4x4 or will my transmission work? I’ve found a 231 transfer case and I know I’ll need the linkage and drive shaft? Am I missing anything or is there a better way or what way would you do it? All opinions are welcome I should also mention this is my very 1st Jeep and I’ve only had about a month of research so tips and tricks are welcome.i forgot to mention my blinkers won’t work with my lights on?? I’ve changed the 2 front sockets and the rear passenger and when I push the blinker button with the lights on my hazards come on????
  3. After changing the fuel filter on my 89 Comanche, truck can't seem to run for more then a couple seconds, if at all. Engine turns over, and cranks, it just doesn't always combust. I'm no master mechanic, so I could use all the help I can get.
  4. Hi guys, I've read the forums for a few years, but I haven't posted before. I'm in the middle of an engine & transmission swap in my 89 2 wheel drive pioneer mj, longbed. It came with a ba-10 from the factory and I'm upgrading it to an Aw-4. The original I-6 seized and I swapped in a 87 I-6. I have the new trans & engine in the truck now. Just have to connect everything up + buy some misc parts for the auto conversion. :wrench: Then I can crank it over and see how it sounds. :driving: I have a question about the speed sensor. Any advice appreciated. This: My Aw-4 came with an electric speed sensor but my truck uses a manual speed sensor. Is it really as simple as plugging the manual sensor & gear into the trans (maybe I need a new gear with a different number of teeth?), or am I missing something?
