what did you do to your MJ today?

Alright, I gotta ask. It's got to be an optical illusion, but it looks like in your pic that you plumbed the two master cylinder ports together! Made me look twice!

And also noticed the brake lines are squeezing right against your windshield washer tank. A good fix for that is to install the 1997+ XJ tanks inside the fender well. It leaves some room for other stuff.

LOL, yeah it ain't pretty ... It is an optical illusion, they are not plumbed together but they run close to each other just prior to going into the proportioning block.

There is about 1mm of clearance with the washer bottle believe it or not. I took a heat gun to the washer tank and pushed it in so its not bent in from the lines! If you notice I also moved the washer bottle forward a bit make room for the booster. That is the only place there is contact, between the booster and back of the washer tank.

I replumbed the rear brakes. Needed shorter brake lines because the disc calipers have rubber hoses coming off them to allow movement, where on the old drum brakes the hard line went all the way to the cylinder. I measured 16" on the one side and 42" on the other side. closest size above 16" was 20", which is what the old one was, so decided to reuse it. Closest above 42" was 51". I was afraid 40" would be too short, but 51" is way to long, so I got a 12" and a 30" as well as a coupler. Also bought two new bleeder screws. Go to connect the new lines and find out the little block on the bottom of the flex hose is cross threaded on one side. Don't know how I got the old line to seal, but the new one wouldn't, and it messed up the threads. So back to NAPA for another 12" line, as well as a 95 Dakota rear hose. Go to replace it, and I strip the nut on the 20" line coming off the other side of it. Back to NAPA.... good thing it's only one block away and across the street. Last time I did brakes one piece at a time I ended up with an all new line front to back before pieces quit failing, and spending more on gas than brake lines driving to and from Advance as my NAPA is not open on Sundays.

So now I havd a new rear hose and all new hard lines going to the wheels, or at leas to the flex hoses coming off the calipers on the wheels.

Next up: Dual diaphragm booster upgrade!

i bought this sticker for my MJ

That is Awesome! Where did you buy that? I want one

My local Honda dealer had a poor XJ hanging from a 100 ft crane during that rediculousness... Drove by it every day on the way to work. :wall: :headpop: :(

i want one of them ........

Got chrome windshield trim installed and got chrome door handles installed! It's looking good!

Also got a speedo cable and need to install it. It will be exciting to have a working speedo again.

I picked up 4 chrome rails from an XJ that go up top and work with the luggage rack. Anything fun I can use them for?

I took the roll bar out of "old Blue" cause it was getting to be a pain to put large things in the bed again. Nice thing is that it goes in and out of the truck with 16 bolts in under 30 minutes. I'm so glad I made it easy to bolt in and out of the bed when I want it.

Then I took us out for a twilight cruise. You know the kinda where you drive around with just your parking lights on for as LONG as possible. We haven't done that for quite some time, forgot how much I miss senselessly burning gas by just getting in the truck and going for a drive. ;)

Unbolted and pulled the old OEM brake booster and master cylinder. Cut a bit off the top pinch seam to get the WJ booster/MC lined up. Ground the end of the rod down to fit brake light switch. Need to knock the other spot on the firewall over where the booster is still hitting. Luckily, the WJ booster still has the combo soft/hard lines on it, so I'll just cut the excess off and reflare the ends to fit in the OEM proportioning block.

Finally painted the new grill and trim ,replaced lexan fog lite shields....glad I left h/lite trim black , not like everybody elses MJ/XJ grill treatment . Whadda think ?

I like the foglights.

yeah, ditto that, I was thinking of setting up a pair like that. I have 2 pair actually, a hidden pair would be cool if you need extra lightage.

I know I need to start a build thread, but here goes anyways. Went into work this morning just to get The MJ finished up so I could drive it back home. Its been sitting up at work for about two weeks now after the water pump went out again. So I figured I would take the initiative and convert to electric cooling fan while I was in there. Ive had a fan out of a WJ laying around for a while and it is about the size of a 2.5/2.8 radiator. I took the fan shroud from my 2.8 donor truck, and the fan shroud from a 2.8 XJ wagoneer and cut them up and epoxied peices of them around the fan to fit the radiator. This will allow me to reinstall the 2.5 fan and shroud later if needed without ruining them. I then wired it all to a fan controller. I had to make a spot in one of the heater hose lines to mount the temp sensor. It probably isnt in the best location right now, but it will work until I can figure something else out later on down the road. And during all this too, the battery went bad in my VW, so I pulled the battery out of the MJ, put it in the bug, which is being sold, and bought myslef a new Delco battery.

Here is the fan I made up. Only the round center part is original to the fan. It has the right sides to two different 2.8 fan shrouds epoxied to it to make it fit over the radiator tightly, I then painted it all satin black.

The temp sensor for the fan controller needed to be mounted somewhere, and the best spot I could see was in the heater bypass line to the intake manifold. I bought some brass plumbing fittings to mount the sensor in and cut the hose and clamped it in.

The fan assembly mounted in place... it has at least a couple inches clearance between it and the water pump.

Next was mounting the fan controller, and getting it wired up. It runs the fan by grounding it at the relay. You run the hot wire from the battery directly to the pos side of the fan, then the fan neg to the realy controller, a wire to the AC clutch power wire, a wire to ignition positve, and a ground. Plug in the sensor and it is done.

And here it is all done and running! It seems to come on quick because of it being in the bypass hose, but I guess Id rather have it running than not.

My next project will be installing the Wagoneer front end! And the the power window and lock doors from the same Wagoneer.

What do you guys think about the project name "Comanche Limited"? As I plan to install the Wagoneer's "limited" badges during my build.

Bought a pack of 36 cut off discs for the dremel. 25 discs later the Pig looks like this:

No more clearance issues with the fender. I also adjusted the pinch seam in the back of the wheel well with a BFH. The only problem now is the bump underneath the air cleaner and battery tray. Limit my turning when a wheel is stuffed.
