Well it’s been a while since I was in the pub. Wasn’t doing much with my 88 Olympic edition but taking it to shows, but this weekend I got a 87 short bed and had a chrome bumper so switched it out with my standard one. Thought it would look nicer taking it up to Butler Jeep event next weekend. Anyone else going? Will take pics of the 87 and register it in here. Got to wait till rain stops here in northeast and get basic detailsIMG_2513.jpeg.7f4f01710eeced434fc770cc3bb86ad0.jpegIMG_1666.jpeg.1e6c01ac9da4d2d8cf87241f96684c9f.jpeg

I'd love to head down to the Jeep festival as it's just over an hour away from where I live.  However I've got big plans this weekend installing solar panels.

The Olympic edition is looking great!

I'd definitely love to do that sometime.

Most years I do make way down to Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, I like taking the Comanche to the show as it has AC.

Well good luck with the solar panels. If you get done early the Barbie jeep race starts at 7.  That’s always a good laugh and it’s free to spectators

Got a steal of a deal I couldn't pass up. Brand new Clayton long arm kit for $700.

I was skeptical of what difference it would make in the ride, and Holy cow did it make a big difference.

Side note: I'll have a short arm setup with a drop bracket up for sale soon 😅

Added Laredo molding modified for my SWB ‘88 Pioneer. Had the molding Line-Xed when they did the bed, also a little inlay with repainted full size Cherokee emblems.

PICS:  Today, I installed a Bosch coolant temperature gauge.  My 89 has the standard idiot lights and after replacing my engine last year, I didn't want to rely on idiot lights anymore.  And I didn't want to do a whole dash instrument swap.

Placed the gauge in the slot where the old transmission rocker switch was....it was disabled (and useless anyway).

I built an engine last year and I used a later model 7120 cylinder head, so I had to use the non-Renix water neck during my build.  Since I'm still running the Renix system, I had just plugged the right port of the water neck.  Perfect place for a new  instrument Temp Sensor!

The Bosch sensor was very long, so I had to add a coupler and close nipple.  Part store didn't have brass, so I used Galvanized iron pipe.

Sure is nice to see where I'm at temperature wise now.

By the way, when I built my engine, I was so paranoid that she'd have some sort of oil pump issues at start up/initial break in that I installed a mini pressure gauge near the distributor.  It was worth the effort and expense to see that I had good pressure during that initial start up.  I left it on.  Not really useful anymore unless you have the hood up of course and want to periodically check oil pressure.  But anyway, I thought I'd snap a pic of that too for you while I was in there.

I have thought of doing the fuel rail gauge.  I may look into that later.

Added some tow eye brackets to the hook assemblies, placed them facing backwards so they would fit. They’re Toyota brackets from FJ Cruisers/4 Runners, the round bar is 3/4” thick.

The exhaust pipe connection has always been a problem area for myself as well. It seemed like the angle of the aftermarket pipe might be a little of or it could have been my exhaust mount setup. I've recently revised it to make sure the pipe can move when the engine does.  I've got a new BRE stainless pipe and it comes with FWD style bolts with springs. I need the get it installed and see how it works.

So far so good. We took it on a 2,600 trip across NV in September. We went on some rough enough terrain to break the rear shock  mount off, but no issues with the pipe so far.

Christmas comms upgrade.  Scored a nice black friday deal on Midland's 50w GMRS and just got a moment to get everything installed.  Haven't decided where I want to permanently mount the mic holder yet so it's just dangling from a hook for now.

Great results so far!  Making contacts +40mi away through a local repeater.  Sure beats the litttle handheld I had been using on the trails.

Added fog lights and an OEM switch in the dash. Used the existing wiring up to the connector behind the headlight and added a relay to complete the circuit.

Today I aired up the tires, hitched up the trailer and drove to Canfield, OH to buy a snow blower.  I rarely drive it in the winter but it's a good dry day, though frigid.

Made a couple of sill plates out of aluminum diamond plate for it. All diamond plate was too much bling so I inlaid a portion of Grand Cherokee stainless sill plate.
