  1. On the tech page I was commented on because I once diverted my windshield washer spray to cool a CPS to make it home…. That’s nothing…..It got me thinking that since my youth for what ever reason I had found other uses for the windshield washing system 3 other uses for your windshield washer spray 1) A bit of extra hose to each of the rear wheel wells of a 69 Chevelle so it dumps out in front of and on the rear wheels…..fill the bottle with Bleach…..When you pull up to the Stop light hit the button 3 times……Punch it and you have the best stop light burn out ever. 2) Get a new reservoir bottle……Run the hose into the cab under the dash……Fill the bottle with Jack and Coke……Now when they search you going into the drive in Movie (if they still had them) you are not caught with booze…..but you can impress the girls by having Jack and Coke on ”Tap” 3) This on requires access to your buddies truck for a bit of time…..Run the hose and conceal it so it ends up under the steering column pointing at the drivers crotch……Run a wire lead from the brake light wire to the washer pump……..Tell your buddy it is 3 for 1 beer night at the bar and you will meet him there…..priceless when he gets out of the truck
  2. For that look you could try taking a glob of grease on a paper plate.....now take a paint brush (an old ratty one that is uneven would be great)......dab the end of the brush in the grease ....now apply it with a poking or stabbing motion (not painting it on but dabbing it on) in as random of a pattern as you want. Next spray your paint on and walk away.....let it dry for a bit longer that you would normally.....go back and wipe the grease off and clean the metal with white vinegar.......
  3. Like said above CPS is overheated I would not advise this but....I once limped an xj home by pulling my rubber windshield washer line off and pointing it at the cps fastened it with a zip tie.....every time it warmed up and stalled i pushed the wiper button.....gave it a moment to cool down and the fired it up and kept going....... Do you have a spray can of parts clearer or brake cleaner nearby.....spry some on as it evaporates it will cool it off enough to limp a bit farther.....???
  4. If you want to go the cheap and easy rout search you local junk yard for 1999-200? S10 blazer or ford explorer springs. Both are spring under, and the right width.... the top leaf with the eyelets cut off or the second one would be a cheap and easy install for a bastard pack that would give you the desired height.....IMHO
  5. The line from the Master to the slave has deteriorated.... just old..... that is probably the source of the black you see.....short term you need to drain and flush the fluid, and bleed the clutch....long term, as said....new master, line and slave
  6. Just curious.....if you do an old fashion spark test....(pull the plug and ground it on the head) you say you have excellent spark......what color is the spark?
  7. Yes
  8. YES
  9. If you want to go with the remote power steering tank...... look out for YJ's in the Junk yard both the 4.0 and 2.5 came with the same remote reservoir

    Dear AMC...

For future reference....a normal hex tip for a screw gun or multi tip screwdriver is 1/4" drive.....so if you have just a tip.....a 1/4" wrench and 1" of electrical tape.....done deal
  11. They missed the part on how the Philbert Flange meshes with the Graffel Grommet.......that is something that needs to be pointed out
  12. I put one of these in each of my YJ's and have on on the shelf for the MJ....12 Volt and 2 usb ports 1- 1 amp ans 1- 2amp I get them off Amazon.....Well built and make for a clean install You can also get a version that has a voltage display.
  13. Check all you vac lines......sounds like one is off or cracked
  14. Vac to the driver's side port to engage to the passenger to unlock You can use your wiper spray line in a pinch if it is an emergency

    size 14 socks

Do you have a Costco in your area......I don't remember the brand name....but they came in a 12 pack. (Size 12/13/14)
  16. Try and get your hands on a Mech. Scope You will be able to use it to pinpoint any noise even while the motor is running. A lifter will be easy the hear through the valve cover.....
  17. Your exhaust has cracked right at the flange that bolts to the head....Google it it is fairly common.....one if my YJ's is the same....it will need to be welded or replaced....I have just been driving it like that....it goes away when it warms up
  18. 134 Amp alternators off of a 3.7 liberty should be cheap and plentiful at JY's in your area.........Just a little grinding to fit You can even spend a little time with a wire wheel and polish it up to look like chrome (which will add HP and Mileage to your MJ)
  19. I had luck with this It should be available in your area https://www.amazon.ca/3M-Stripe-Wheel-Mandrel-Diameter/dp/B00063VT0G/ref=asc_df_B00063VT0G/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292938351042&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13742113931482093752&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001187&hvtargid=pla-451421021261&psc=1
  20. This is a Gladiator This is a (4 Door) Scrambler
  21. As said above .....if it is spring over already an added leaf could solve your problems.....easy donors are (XJ obviously) S-10 and F- 150's (you can use any leaf the same width) I like to take the pack apart on the truck leaving the top leaf bolted to the frame and shackles.....then reassemble the pack with the new leaf and reinstall.....Just costs the price of the donor leaf....new u-bolts....and some refreshments for your time.
  22. You will need the 36 mm socket ( I don't know what the standard equivalent is 1 7/16?) and a 12 point 13 mm comes in handy
  23. On a big screen you can see the cap on the u-joint is not seated correctly....FUBAR...........Like Pete says....time to replace......I think it will be a 1320 (?)
  24. The HO 4.0 is designed to operate at 210 If you are running hot at start up and idle maybe you need to look at your T-stat/ water pump/ Rad configuration ?? Put in a new 195 T-stat. ?? Pull the heater hose coming from the water pump at the heater core end put it in a pail or jug and have a helper temporary start the motor.....do you get a good healthy stream of water? Back flush your rad and heater core....there are products out there ...( Google)......I use everyday Vinegar. And Like Cruiser says.....don't trust the 30 year old gauge Check it with an IR thermometer (if you can get your hands on one)
  25. I have a 4.7 in a 2002 2WD Dakota ( NV 3550 / Corporate 9.25 with 3:55) The PO had chopped the exhaust off after the cats (on this truck it has 2 cats, one dropping directly off each manifold, so that would be a major leak ) And then he tossed on as pair of elbows turned sideways......basically wheel well headers. IMHO research the motor a bit.....they do not make power like a 4.0 down low....mine likes to get above 25...2800 RPM then it starts to pull hard....... The only thing you mention that I do not have is a bad idle.......aside from the leak maybe something else is effecting it....I would check that out first The other question for my own curiosity......if he has a tach ...where does the red-line start....................my tach has no red line??????
