    so you've replaced the block from the junkyard and they are saying it's from a 90 XJ, yes? I guess it's possible that the previous owner of that XJ replaced the block at some point. what are the casting numbers in the block? can you simply remove the threaded bit and replace with your old part?

    yup, that is the one risk of deleting the CAD. but it can also be a blessing because there might be something wrong.

    I looked in my purchased-items folder and the listing shows "This seller is no longer registered on eBay." looks like Ebay figured it out. good for them.

    the tool by itself is normally twice that. with batteries takes it above 300. that's a ton of dough just to skip using the breaker bar. in my research I learned that dewalt makes 5 or 6 different levels of 20v impact wrenches. it's possible they are sending a less powerful one and pretending it was a "mistake". I dunno. I bought through ebay and paid with visa so I'm pretty certain I'll get the money back one way or the other.

    Libbys are everywhere in the pull a parts. it's like $125 for an axle. 3.55 and 3.73 are the most common ratios. posis are hit or miss.

    ford was kind enough to include the gear ratio and pois-or-not on a sticker on the door of the explorer. google for the codes. personally I like the KJ Liberty 8.25. it's 2" wider than stock to better match the MJ's wide butt and has disks ('cept for '02).

    how much more of an excuse do you need to go to a junkyard than a CC friend is in need of a part that juuuust might still be there! Heck, I'm hitting up the pullapart tomorrow in hopes that the other skidplates might still be there. plus for twenty some bucks, I'm getting a new hitch that isn't encrusted in the red stuff. in other news, today I came across an old pic of the Libby. she was so young that the spare tire cover was still on! dollars to donuts that there are a few 8.8s in that trailer.

    so I was perusing good ol' google maps exploring alternatives to a local intersection that's about to undergo major reconstruction and one of my routes brought up this li'l beauty. inside of a 3 mile stretch, this road has 4 different names. (I couldn't get the map zoom to include the 4th name and still show the whole thing, but believe me, the last bit on the right is a new name). this is an extreme example of what's common in georgia. way different than what I'm used to in Michigan. man, getting around on southern roads with a map must have been... challenging.
