day late, dollar short, but I once had a rear main blow and drain 5 quarts out before I noticed it making a funny sound. still ran. and after an oil change and a new rear main seal, it still runs the truck looks fantastic!

the width of the spoon on the end is what's hanging it up. no idea what year it used to be. unless someone knows where an MJ bed/frame might be tagged that would be a clue. the axle and leafs are not original. only the bed, frame, and tailgate (which isn't the one that's currently on the trailer but I still have it).

can you share a pic of what the rear prop valve and hoses look like?

went out and tried it and the jack handle works just fine in my 88 but won't fit through the hole in the sheetmetal of my trailer. yes, I can cut that out of my way, but not until I give up on finding the correct tool. still can't find my tire iron to check that diameter.

it was the first thing I did once I got home. Adding a 7 pin connector so I can have power for lights is on the to-do list. both of my potential tow rigs have a 7 pin so it's more or less a no-brainer.

you can check the ratio by jacking up one rear tire, putting the trans in neutral, then spin the tire exactly twice while counting the driveshaft rotations. 3 and a half = 3.55s just over 4 is 4.10 ect. if you have a posi then you need to jack up both rear tires and rotate one of them around once (this assumes the other also goes around once) while counting the driveshaft rotations.

ok, after much confusion trying to figure out how I would drop the spare on either my trailer or my 88, I looked through the purchase-day photos of my 88 and sure enough, there's a tire iron (the traditional kind) in the one pic. turns out I've apparently misplaced it (it's not in the box with the jack and interior bits). so I'll just need to find it and then buy another to put in the trailer.

wait, is this why my stupid jack handle doesn't fit in the space to drop my spare on the trailer? I was fighting with this on Sunday. I had to use a long screwdriver and a helper because I couldn't get enough grip on the screwdriver. It's a longbed, so I guess it might be an 86. I'm going to need one of those...
