it was the first thing I did once I got home. Adding a 7 pin connector so I can have power for lights is on the to-do list. both of my potential tow rigs have a 7 pin so it's more or less a no-brainer.

you can check the ratio by jacking up one rear tire, putting the trans in neutral, then spin the tire exactly twice while counting the driveshaft rotations. 3 and a half = 3.55s just over 4 is 4.10 ect. if you have a posi then you need to jack up both rear tires and rotate one of them around once (this assumes the other also goes around once) while counting the driveshaft rotations.

ok, after much confusion trying to figure out how I would drop the spare on either my trailer or my 88, I looked through the purchase-day photos of my 88 and sure enough, there's a tire iron (the traditional kind) in the one pic. turns out I've apparently misplaced it (it's not in the box with the jack and interior bits). so I'll just need to find it and then buy another to put in the trailer.

I'm not suggesting you drown it in syrup.

wait, is this why my stupid jack handle doesn't fit in the space to drop my spare on the trailer? I was fighting with this on Sunday. I had to use a long screwdriver and a helper because I couldn't get enough grip on the screwdriver. It's a longbed, so I guess it might be an 86. I'm going to need one of those...

I'm back. managed to snag the entire throttle body assembly, manifold sensors, airbox top, airbox ducts, AC bracket (one bolt hole is broken off but I have it), distributor, and some other little things. they wanted far more for the pump than I could pay pump reservoir was broken bottom of airbox was broken coolant tank and cap were both broken tried to charge me a total of 36 bucks for a cheap old air horn assembly. I politely declined. Noticed on this trip that there are 3" spacer blocks for the rear lift and bolt/clamp spreader things on the front coils. eek.

those airhorns better be functional

I used them to pull the retainers for XJ hood insulation the other day. took seconds to remove it all and no damage to the insulation

yeah, the 35 isn't long for this world behind a v8. The explorer 8.8 is a good choice. don't pay extra for a v8 version as they are the same inside as the v6 and you're going to trim the brackets off anyway.

made myself a little scrub brush to do the inside of the backup light lens. improved version on the left.

it typically happens when the truck is picked up on a lift and then set back down. the process stretches the linkage out and you need to make sure it goes back into the proper orientation. very common.
