neohic Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 For months until just recently I’ve been picking at my brother’s kitchen. He’s up in Minnesota while I’m in Colorado and work at a cabinet shop. This all started on a visit up there in February. My intent was to build it for as cheap as possible while still creating a quality custom kitchen. I started setting aside damaged sheet goods that were still useable and still looked fine on one side. Then I scrounged scraps and seconds from customer jobs that cleaned up to new condition. This went on through the end of July. Total cost in materials came to just under $800. Granted, this is a small kitchen but it would’ve been about $6000 at our full retail. 77 hours went into this between staying late at work and the install itself. Then came the drive and construction while my dad and brother did the prep and reframing on one wall. Three very long days later… … and after the floor went down… … and the cherry on top was surprising him with a monogrammed cheese board from the sink cut out leftovers. I love my family. It has definitely been the hardest part of moving away from them five years ago now. Sure makes the visits that much more special when they happen! Always do favors and always help other when you can. This was a ton of work but very well worth taking time away from my projects.

JordanTMiller Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 I put together a jeep brand stroller my aunt got us this weekend. Probably should of read the directions…
tugboat95 Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 As you know in my other post, I built this over the last 6 months. Or rather I wrote checks on borrowed money and watched other people build it. I coated the floor and will be doing the electrical myself in the next month or so.89 ComancheEliminator2wd4.0L5 speed PukeGoatFactory Original
Pete M Posted February 11, 2022 Author Posted February 11, 2022 I love it! what do you keep in the drawers?
187Camaro Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Finally got 2 post put up a month ago. Installed long arm on wife's xj. Traded into a yj with what I was told had a bad fuel pump. Changed that only to realize it was just a bad connection. Now I am getting the spiderwebs out of the 7 and getting ready to restub rear frame and do an axle swap.
howeitsdone Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Changed the oil pan seal in the 5.7 WK2. Not as fun as it sounds... if that sounds fun
Pete M Posted June 25, 2023 Author Posted June 25, 2023 bringing this thread back from the dead! I'm finally to the tiling stage of the kitchen I'm installing.
Smokeyyank Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 My current home project is redoing the basement bathroom. Been slow moving but coming along. Currently tiling. Hoping to be done by end of july with it all. Told the wife this is the last remodel project for a while need to work on the jeeps!
Smokeyyank Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 And done! Now a very needed hiatus from large home improvement projects for a bit. Next up are a overland trailer and a RV remodel. After that maybe I can finally have time to build the WJ.

Something I have found that works great when cleaning shower glass doors: a single edge razor blade and a scraper. My folks were gung ho about renovating the bathroom shower with glass doors and did not know what to do with soap scum. They purchased Kaboom, Tilex, all the most unnecessary and nauseating chemicals you can think of. A good 'ol scraper does the business and does not scratch the glass. Its the cheapest most effective way to clean glass doors and you don't have to lose brain cells to do so!

When I redid my master we put in all new glass. I applied a hydrophobic coating to it and we squeegee it after and it's been fine. Have to reapply the coating about once a year but way better than the chemicals.

I should do that lol.
