terrawombat Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Our kitchen project is slowly wrapping up. I think I said it was 99% complete a couple months ago....that 1% seems to take a long time. We have some trim to finish and other random odds and ends that are being addressed as we have time. The warmer weather is moving in so we have been spending a lot more time outside. While my wife and I were sitting around our fire pit we looked over at an otherwise unused area of our house and decided to build an outdoor bar. My wife got some really nice hardwood slabs from work (she works for a company that manufacturers high end guitars that use very nice lumber). Their quality control is so strict that they wind up throwing a lot of it away so my wife intercepted it before it got to the dumpster. We plan on sanding them down and using them as the bar tops. We also scored a sweet old school sink from my parent's farm. It's a giant cast iron kitchen sink from the 1920's that must weigh 250lbs. We're still early in the conceptual phase, but I think it's going to turn out to be pretty sweet.
Pete M Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 yeah, that last 1 percent can be a real bear.
terrawombat Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 As soon as I get to 0.5%, 3 more things get added to the final checklist and bring it right back to 1%... Will it ever end?
Pete M Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 operation modernize-the-wheelbarrow was a complete success. best part was I didn't need to buy anything but a few nuts. sometimes it pays to hang on to stuff.
MiNi Beast Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 hell you gots room for bigger tires even. nice.
jdog Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Should have rigged up a power wheels driveline to it. Motorized wheel barrow But looks a lot better then some of the wheel barrows if seen lately
Pete M Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 all possible for future mods. right now I wanted a proof of concept with the parts I had on hand.
MiNi Beast Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 well hopefully you find your nuts so you can finish...
fiatslug87 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 Nice! Sod cutters are fun aren't they? Did you dig the trenches by hand (don't see a Ditch Witch)? My least favorite thing to do in the yard.
Pete M Posted April 20, 2021 Author Posted April 20, 2021 that sprinkler system was the best thing ever that we installed at my grandma's house. at that time she was unable to water the lawn herself and my family and I took turns keeping her front lawn perfectly green for a couple years.
rylee144 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 trencher is in the back of the truck. the sod cutter worked so well. the trench beat me up, so sore today. lots of rocks 0600-2100 was a long day. then I spotted that gear oil leak from my front axle shaft. busy times around my place.
Pete M Posted April 20, 2021 Author Posted April 20, 2021 ah the joys of home ownership. right @eaglescout526 ?
eaglescout526 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 11 minutes ago, Pete M said: ah the joys of home ownership. right @eaglescout526 ? Lol oh yeah. I discovered last night before my shower that I replaced what I thought was the hot water knob and broke the cold water knob to replace that only to learn that I broke the hot water and replaced the cold water knob lol.
187Camaro Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Recently did a complete remodel on my bathroom. I think it turned out pretty decent. Little irritated that most items had to be ordered twice due to wrong stuff shipped or damaged.
Pete M Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 trying to snap pictures of the red shoulder hawk nest waaaay back by the creek. looks like the leaves are all coming in before I get to see any little ones.
rylee144 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Finished my sprinkler system. My oh my was the yard rocky. Then it rained and the clay was a mess. Gotta let it grow in then level it a bit. Next project is a 20x13 concrete patio.
914.6stroker Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 I've been slowly fumbling through multiple projects. I've been restoring the interior of my 91 eliminator. Also have a 67 Kaiser M715 build going with my father. That is getting an LS, NV4500 and one ton axles. I have an 80 foxbody that is getting the turbo LS treatment and i just picked up a $200 xj that just needs lifters.
gogmorgo Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 The shrubs I transplanted with the ZJ and a tow strap last summer have started budding out. So that’s cool.
MiNi Beast Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Well In between tinkering with the jeep, I've been keeping up the garden, working around city house and finally making last push and finishing up the bathroom vanity area makeup place blah blah. 😑 just need that special lit up mirror for the center corner mount. And when I get the chance I escape to woods and been working on the master cabin addition. Staying busy but ready for a road trip..
