Speakers, speakers, and subs?
Jeep Driver replied to Wounded_Fighter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You are asking a loaded question that no one will ever satisfy you with a correct answer. If you want stock and cheap........go to Walmart. I you are willing to spend some money, study and shop and be prepared to get creative.......stock goes out the window. Start here..........he's good. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4FiN46mPTtkJxzRXJY21lQ And see my build thread for what I'm doing. -
Roll Bar Light Ideas
Jeep Driver replied to Ls2xjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
BJ did and install and review on his -so called- MJ build. At the time and still maybe, there was a promo code straight from KC making this bar come in around $1200. Not my style but if I had a sport bar........for sure. Add a pair of Trucklite or JW Speaker head lights and a couple of good LED floods at the bumper, this would make Rigid's junk look silly. -
Roll Bar Light Ideas

Inside of tube/frame- 3M makes similar. https://www.amazon.com/KBS-Coatings-75101-Cavity-Fluid_Ounces/dp/B00TVH7R5O/ref=asc_df_B00TVH7R5O/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312169650952&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17111932159938858499&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9013407&hvtargid=pla-568784244139&psc=1 Also, no longer a fan of the cubes and bars. Ineffective for the money spent. The last place I'd mount a bar is above and behind the cab. Spots on the bar and floods on the bumper. From what I've seen from Rigid..........not too impressed. I've been looking long and hard at Hella, KC, VisionX. -

Coming up on a year. What's going on with you? You OK?

Well, the hood got completely repainted, twice. And the doors got repainted too. I had trouble with gnats and other bugs, bugs that could not bee seen before I painted. Taught myself a trick, prep, cover parts with plastic, set off bug bombs, come back in 45 minutes and spray. Works great. Doors will get one more coat of clear........then on to the bed.

fuel problem with my comanche
Jeep Driver replied to 87 Basket Case's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OK, I sit here everyday I read the same post over and over and over.........same problems, over and over. By your own admission- You have a mess, you have a Basket Case. I didn't suggest you throw $2000 part at a $2 problem. If you want to drive the truck and you want the truck to be reliable.......at some point you need to start cleaning up the mess. It's a 32 year old relay. Here is mine, NOS Mopar, IIRC I paid something like $13 for it on ebay. -

Your pics are showing the interior side of the bulkhead, not the fuse block. The fuse block separates from the bulkhead. Yes, that can be cleaned. Fuse block can be obtained from a similar year XJ.

coilover shocks for mj

There's no substitute for a quality pair of leaf springs. -
Faux patina. Base coat of green with accent colors dabbed with a sponge/cloth randomly/artistically.

Well.........two things I'll comment on......... 250/250 ain't special, you are not going to shred a frame/uni-frame/uni-body with it, no need to reinforce. Your 4.0 core is worth about $200, not $2K. And I don't care what he's going to do with it.

clutch No clutch and black fluid in reservoir
Jeep Driver replied to Foffett's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, of course. -
Central NC and SC are bland, flat, a bore. If he's taking state highways......town to town to town, lots of stop and go. East coast is a nice drive....OBX, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel..........car ferry to Ocrakoce......etc..........all very nice, just not nice right now.

I'd suspect it was a redesign to accommodate both long and short after '86. Has nothing to do with axles or payload.

1989 Comanche Rear Lift
Jeep Driver replied to 1989commanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just measured mine. I'm at 12.75. My axle is .5 larger in diameter than yours, 13.25 to compensate. I currently have my bed off, .5 to compensate. I'm back at 12.75 Approximately 4.5" beyond stock. I'm using the JKS shackle.........forget what others will tell you.........it does offer 1" height. General Spring military wrap will offer you about 3-3.5" of height beyond where you are now. You have many options with regard to springs. Also, bare in mind, after 30 years every spring is 'sagged out', really doesn't matter what it measures. If you are unhappy with your truck's ability to carry a load or the height or the quality of ride or being sloshed around in a slosh bucket in every turn..............you need new springs. Not to mention your bushings are rotted, that's guaranteed. -

If you don't like my opinion on the matter..........read someone else's- https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/how-to-know-when-to-replace-sagging-leaf-springs Masking a problem does not make the problem go away, may actually make it worse.
