At the top of the jamb, the plates the gate closes against, there is supposed to be rubber stops there, that's why it has so much slop when closed. I have not found new ones for mine yet.- 235 replies

Bilstein Shock Question

I measured mine differently than most guys. I measured eye to eye in the static position. I looked at Bilstein shock site for part numbers and measurements. Most have a 9" stroke. If extended is 22.5", minus the 4.5" for half the stroke, static is 18". IIRC that was about what my static measurement was, 18". -

Making your own..........or Brown Dog style..........motor mounts will render the 'torque arm' meaningless. Just say'n. The mount plate will be a JY item. -
Proto is the actual industrial grade tool line, and is equal or higher quality than Strap-On. No, it is not made in Chindiawan. Strap-On has removed the "Made in USA" from many of their products to "better represent their global market." I do not know what that actually means regarding COO. The wrenches, sockets, and ratchets are all still USA made. You are free to believe what you want regarding companies removing the USA to be 'global friendly', The reason companies stopped stamping tools USA is because components, materials, or portions of the components are made/produced outside the USA. I suspect this is the case will all tool makers today. I have a full chest, 90% of which are Craftsman, with a splattering of Snap-on, MAC, and a full set of GP impact sockets (which I prefer over the Craftsman and Snap-on sets I have). I agree that the Craftsman current line of ratchets are crap, I have a polished 1/4 that has been replaced several times, my older ratchets have never been a problem. Nor have a I ever broken a Craftsman tool while using it properly. Below are three Snap-on screwdrivers, I've had these for nearly 25 years, the two long ones have been replaced, the black one is broken again. Try to get Snap-on to replace a tool when you do not work at a shop and have an account, absolute PITA. They work great when they are not broken, but then, at $90 a piece.....................

Proto is made by Stanley/Black and Decker/MAC, nothing profession grade there. In fact, not even USA made any more, Chinese junk like all the rest. https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/06/ftc_stanley_works.html Snap-on is not even marked USA anymore. Nothing wrong with Craftsman, get the older ratchets, 15-20 years older or more. Hate to break it to you all, but, most is mass produced and private labeled anymore, elsewhere.

The short answer to your question is, no. No parts for the swap interchange, rad, rad support, mounts, fuel delivery, ignition, harness, trans, DSs.......etc......... Your best bet is to find a XJ as a complete donor. That said, your TB and intake and flywheel....2.5 related parts are getting impossible to find. Use them, sell them, give them away.....but please, don't scrap them. -

I would also like to add: There is a complaint thread here: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1139595regarding Bosch pumps not coming with hardware. I recently replaced my pump. Every search, every vendor, turned up the same Bosch number for a '88 2.5. No hardware....ie......rubber isolators, and the pump was of a different design to the original. Fortunately, my isolators were in good shape and I was able to modify it without it falling apart. -

Yes, MJ and XJ pans and gaskets are all the same, regardless of year. The Wrangler pans are the ones that are different. -

You can alter your bar, this opens you up to endless lengths and arrangements. I just ordered Helwig 7977s for the rear, when they come in and I get the rear situated I'm ordering for the front as the front is getting moved around again. This is only relevant to you in that my rears are for a 04 F250, adjustable, just making the point that one can make just about anything work and work properly. I think Helwig has one link that is designed like yours but longer, may want to check that out.
