IIRC, going back about 17 years now.............. In FL the tags were cost + $100, my tags were $49 plus the personal fee, $149 each and I had two of them. Maybe cheaper now.........I'll have to look into them again. In TN my tags are $24 each. I send the state enough of my money through taxes.

Here is a carcass that will fit your needs, maybe worth shipping at $600. You have to be serious and willing to jump when opportunity arises. https://www.facebook.com/groups/553063848131666/permalink/1111111185660260/?sale_post_id=1111111185660260 There are actually better deals on FB than craigslist, so it seems. -

Nice. I had personal tags in FL.......expensive. Here in TN, tags are ugly and none of the optional tags are appealing to me. Might go 'antique', all white, when I'm done. 1BADMOFO or JEEPMJ88 or some such thing.

Can you expound on the brakes a bit, maybe a pic or two?

Stay sober and marry a woman who is smarter than you. Everything you want will always be just out of reach. Look up to no one, they are not as smart as they claim they are. Work hard and stay out of trouble, the money will come. Don't live for the money, everyone dies broke anyway. That's the best I can offer.

If you read the link you provided, it says you need a temporary registration. Connecticut is the same weay. People may drive without tags all the time, but I've never heard of any state in which it's legal. I've driven used cars home from several states, and I always had temporary tags to do it. I read the link I provided, I read everything. The temp tag that is available in MD is wrapped around inspection and repair to get inspection, so it appears. I have no personal experience in CT or MD. That said, here is a perfect example, from MI, no less- http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127--191765--,00.html He cannot get a temp tag for a vehicle he does not own, has not seen, has not bought, is in another state, for which he has no BoS or title to. I know that some states offer a 'transportation tag', he may want to look into that. I know for a fact that every state must make provision to a buyer of a used vehicle to get the vehicle home. I know for a fact that no state will tell you what you do not know to ask for, I ask questions until I get a satisfactory answer. Tell you what, OP, you buy a rust-free running MJ here in the South, you can pay me $500 and I'll deliver it to you myself.

http://www.mva.maryland.gov/vehicles/registration/temporary-registration.htm Every state I'm aware of allows you to drive the vehicle home after purchase, you need a bill of sale, title, and an active insurance card. I drove an XJ from Tampa FL to E TN, no tag or registration. I got stopped in Waynesville NC, not a damn thing they could do about it. Roadkill does it all the time and this is one of the FAQs...............you have 10 days to get it home. For that matter, I drove my MJ from Atlanta GA through NC to TN.............same thing, no tag or registration. People do it all the time.

Will my Comanche break in half?
Jeep Driver replied to Gene's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That doesn't look good. -
-AN fittings on stock sending unit?
Jeep Driver replied to xjustinx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The only reason to get AN is to go braided, if that's his desire, there are clamp-on ends for the braided steel. Then go on with braided or a mix of braided/hard line with AN fittings. Some of us do things just to do them. -
Looking for comprehensive vacuum line layout
Jeep Driver replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You need to run the blend door, MAP, PBs. That's it. If you have EGR, that can go away too, charcoal canister at the tank and be done with it. You don't need a schematic for that. -
-AN fittings on stock sending unit?
Jeep Driver replied to xjustinx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The real question is- why not? I assumed they were quick-connects, which suck. Get a steel adapter and silver solder them on, they can always be removed. -

87 Mj high idle/intake manifold smoke
Jeep Driver replied to 87ComancheHoss's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Without being there and looking at it..................... Sounds like a massive vacuum leak. White smoke? IDK, but your intake is heated, maybe a crack? I'd check the gasket at the intake to head, gasket at the TBI to intake, and check the hose going to the brake booster or the booster itself. -

What happens when you try to restart it? -
I've been running a LUK clutch, LUK will be fine.

Five or so years ago we lost a Ranger and a XJ to hail, utterly destroyed. Been there.

changing into 4 hi
Jeep Driver replied to offthepavement's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If conditions warrant 4X, you probably shouldn't be going 70mph. -
I just got a quote yesterday from Monster Transmission for a 700r4, $2600 plus the Novak TC adapter (they install output shaft) puts the total just above $3100. We play, we pay. I also suggest no-controller trans. After I get my truck finished, I'm getting away from the AMC/Chrysler mess, done with it. Going old-school.

True 4-link front long arm kit
Jeep Driver replied to IronManche87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
http://www.full-traction.com/detail.php?b=1&m=4&t=1&p=839 I've been considering it myself, I would only use this type of kit. I don't trust the other style. I want my uppers and lowers independent. What's holding me back is the idea of cutting off the existing mounts and I only want the links and mounts, NOT the kit, I hate kits. It's last on my agenda. -
Yep, I'm on FaceFreak, still no worky.
