  1. I cannot imagine all that work and money to a CAD axle. Why not just take it back to the JY and get another?
  2. Just a thought- Renix 2.5 flywheels are non-existent. I don't need one but I'll be buying one used of ebay next week. I'm in the process of buying critical parts that cannot be found or will not be found in the future. I study threads/comments, connect the dots, looking for commonality...... Two things I have never seen discussed, flywheel shims and master/slaves. I have gone through 4 masters and two slaves before I bit the bullet and bought a complete Mopar system. I would imagine the internal slaves to be particularly problematic. Secondly, there is no reason not to use a flywheel shim matching the amount of material that was relieved from the surface of the flywheel. Should be even easier to make a shim for the backside of the internal slave. I'll be having the new-used flywheel turned, no other options for me.
  3. http://comancheclub.com/topic/52639-my-88-mj/ Nothing wrong with that at all. You should do whatever you want to your truck.
  4. There is a ground at the rear of the truck, I bet you do not have that ground grounded/connection to ground. That entire circuit needs to be grounded. Trace out your tail light wiring, find the ground, ground it................I believe it also grounds the fuel pump/tank sender.
  5. I completely misunderstood your original question, sorry.
  6. Yeah, I would start with the CPS.
  7. I think that is a common problem with SMP units (and others). I could have pointed you to a OEM CPS.
  8. What did you end up doing? I made my own shock mounts and went with a traditional 3/8 spring plate. I'm now ordering a 'cradle', see other thread regarding spring plates. Cradle is here- http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/merchant.mvc? http://comancheclub.com/topic/52694-sua-recessed-u-bolt-plate/
  9. IRRC, the older models had a reinforcement plate and the newer models did not, they did away with it. You should be fine.
  10. http://www.bteventures.com//mj1988electricalmanual.pdf Go to page 15 and you'll see the blue/orange with black............pressure switch for idle-up. The idea was to raise the idle of the engine when the power steering sensed a strain. You haven't missed it. Cut mine off long ago.
  11. There should be a switch on the pressure line leaving the pump, if it's not there, someone replaced the line without a switch.
  12. Yeah, chuck the plate. I went aftermarket......but that's another matter.
  13. Very interesting. What brand of CPS?
  14. Power steering pressure switch.
  15. HO above, Renix below.
  16. No sir, I have not. I will do that in the morning for sure. I was wondering about the distance from flywheel measurement, and whether having the 89 CPS in the 98 bell housing might somehow increase the distance from the flywheel. I'm going to slot those holes tomorrow also, just to make sure I get a good signal. Thanks for the advice, I will report back with my results. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk The 89 and 98 should be exactly the same. Starter and starter ring are the same........diameter of flywheel and location of CPS on bell should not have changed.
  17. I'll just throw a guess out.......... If it's related to your trans...........could be back up lights and 4x indicator..........otherwise......?
  18. Yes, that's a Renix flywheel. One bolt should be out of sequence in the circle, there is only one way to install it.
  19. I agree with you, sounds like a worn chain. That's a lot of mile on a 2.5.
  20. http://comancheclub.com/topic/22442-fuel-sender-with-pump/ See post 10. Up to you.
  21. The pump in the 87 should be good for 40psi regulated pressure, your 2.5 should be regulated at 15psi. I would install a 2.5 pump.
  22. I didn't check the new one against the old one unfortunately. I'm pretty sure you can only install it one way, I just wanted to double check. I will check my paperwork and get the part number and check that it is the right one. I will be changing the CPS tomorrow, hopefully that fixes the problem. It ran fine before the transmission swap, not sure what else would be effected. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk Renix and Chrysler flywheels are radically different. I doubt the CPS will solve this problem. Renix flywheels, even for the 4.0, will have to be sought out, I suspect your new flywheel is the wrong flywheel.
  23. My first impression was, and still is, a bad MAP or a bad/clogged line to the MAP. Otherwise, something went wrong when you took the TBI apart, or you have a fowled injector or regulator. I suggest you add a fuel pressure gauge. Also, the cheap TPSs could be bad out of the box, what did you replace it with? You'll want a MAP marked GM, General Motors.
  24. You have a TBI, when you say you rebuilt the carb, what exactly did you do?
