Sealed power H802CP piston question
Jeep Driver replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Without looking it up, I doubt the .007 is even the thickness of the head gasket. I forget what Sealed Power pistons I used.........they are just about all coated anymore. I assume you are going with a full set? for weight difference? They should be fine. -
Replacing the clutch
Jeep Driver replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm running Havoline 40W and Lucas in both diffs and AX5 for more than 1.5 years now.......all good. -
My Curt receiver just came today, too tired to install it tonight. Recovery point. But in the case of the XJ, yeah, might have been behind a RV.

88 4cylinder 5speed mud truck
Jeep Driver replied to Alec's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Alec, I was trying to lead you to study for yourself......much reading is required. The 2WD AX5 that you have will need to be replaced with a 4WD AX5.......they are NOT the same. You cannot just swap a tail shaft. Further, your Comanche is not a F150, the likelihood of you puring in fresh gas and a new battery and having it fire up is next to 0.....nil. You really need to read up. -

Have you got the truck running yet? And you know you'll need a new trans too, right? -
Why not just build a 3.4? No one here will recommend you do anything to the 2.8 other than scrap it.

slave cylinder replacement
Jeep Driver replied to rsammel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When mine went out I replaced it with an external bell housing. I used to suggest this to others but they don't like hearing the truth....so.......screw it. The internals are prone to fail. There is a quick-connect coupling inside the bell that is prone to blow apart, this is what is likely allowing air into the system. The aftermarket slaves are junk, straight out of the box. Like any other JUNK part we replace, it's hit or miss. Some other guy will post up that he replaced his 9 years ago and it's still going strong.....yeah, so what? You're the one with the problem, you're the one that has to drop the trans again.......and again. It may not be the mechanics fault, probably not his fault. I have read your post over and over and over and over......same $#!&, different day. -

Internal slave? -
The other is the backup light switch. The one with the two prongs disables the upshift light when in 5th gear, disregard it.

Your trucks must run like $#!&........jeeesh........ A 12.50 should be on a 10" wheel......amazing........and at 10lbs>>>>???????? Good way to roll on off at 70mph on a curve. No, I don't' fall into the trap of group think. One wheel dealer tried to convince me to buy 8" wheels........I paid my money to different dealer. Just because people do it doesn't make it right. -

A 10.50 should be on a 8" wheel, not a 7" wheel. Will it fit? sure. 10.50 section width should give you a little less than 9" of tread. To get the tread flat you'll need to run about 28lbs pressure on a 7" wheel. (with your sidewall all sucked in like a doughnut) A 33" tire on a 15" wheel has a tall sidewall. When you under inflate, the wheel moves laterally within the tire, back and forth. Performance suffers. Specifically why I chose a 60 sidewall. You guys who go hick with your MJ/XJ.....crawlers......could, for obvious reasons, care less about overall performance. -
chugs down when I give it gas

TPS would be my guess. -
I've been down that road already. I've got a 20T press, unless you have a ram that will fit precisely over the outer sleeve of the bushing and stay inside the spring........ain't gonna happen. Image Not Found

Pull one out, take it to the parts store, ask for three replacements, replace. They should be no more than about $10 each.

Yeah, well, I like my mess.Relax, I'm Renix too, I even tried to clean it up and made it messier, so I became one with the mess. Rather have my Renix than HO, far simpler. Is it just me ... Or does that sound like there is a need for a support/rehab group in our future ...?? I always forget smilies.........jeeesh.............:)......better? Rehab for sure. I'm stabbing the HO guys, had enough.

Jeep Driver replied to creep_in_the_jeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah, I know, I have one of each. My bad. No worries . It's been that long since I changed the oil in the XJ........you've reminded me. Actually, I use 5qts and 1qt Lucas......that's how that statement came out wrong.
