Simple bandaid is turn up the radio or put the carpet back in and drive it til something gives. Does it only happen when the rig is cold since you say it goes away after 3 miles? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Project Patience....a 90 Eliminator trail build
cody4359 replied to WyoCherokee's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Fyi, when I had my driveshaft made I flexed it out via forklift and measured and gave him running height measurement . I THINK I told the guy I might plan on raising it a bit in the future so make it close to my max collapse number. Moral of the story, I measured with an empty fuel tank. Just happened to fill up before installing it and my ride height changed and the shaft was to long to fit. Perhaps keep that in mind when your have yours made or lengthened Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk- 132 replies

"The Cure" from RuffStuff.............
cody4359 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
normally I don't care that people knock stuff off, but clearly this has been stated it's patented and it's a great idea. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
1 hella low 2 projector low 3 hella high 4 projector high never even bothered with the leds, took some time aiming and couldn't get decent light without bad glare. took them for a spin and pulled out and returned. pics kinda suck, but the projectors have a very wide low beam, about 6 lanes for up close, the high beam looks narrow but it's great for distance. the cutoff on lowbeam kinda sucks on steep twisisting logging roads just because as the front of the truck is pointing down and turning a corner you don't have any light about ovbiously, nothing the fogs can't fix in the woods. I do like the halogens I the jeep, in town they seem lacking from all the dim street lamps but out where it's nice and dark they are great Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

LEDS don't project any heat so they'll have plastic lenses. And I stand by my previous comment that was deleted describing my experince with mutiple leds and how they suck. my jeep lights scatter bad on highbeam but the only people that will suffer are the ones who have LEDs or they're hi beams on. the projectors I put in the ford blow halogen/leds out of the water tho the camera doesn't justify it. pics are ipf glass/hella bulbs vs DS2 4.0 with nigh breaker bulbs. low then high Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I just go out to the woods and set up targets or pick large rocks off in the distance. I wouldn't mind finding a competition or two to get better. I've gotten 1-2' rocks at 780 yards, not that precise but fun. the 6.5 creedmoor is on the left, .223 on right. 400 yds and the creedmoor spread is just shy of 2.75" which I'm pretty happy with. the 3 groups are at 115 yards platinum g with seating depth and couple tenth increments. once I finish up my hornady bullets I've found a better load with Noslers that are almost half price Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I'm pretty happy with my ipf/hella combo, I've though of trying some hella glass but I'm sure it'd be splitting hairs. silver stars amd the $20 headlight harness would be better than the trucklight knockoffs I bet. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

nope, those are what I had. bluish light that didn't penatrate the dark and glared bad. I'd stick with the h4 and harness upgrade or if you want real usable light do a projector kit. the new D2S 4.0 are suppose to be bad @$$ and they are easy to install. I have the D2S 3.0 in my ford and light up about 6 lanes wide on low beam without glare and high beam is unbelievable with how far it shoots. low beam is the most used so that's usable light I refer to. I might try to get a comparison of one fxr projector/one ipf-hella if your Interested. my first retrofit was around $300 if I remember right. also, dunno where you at but if it get cold LED are worthless. I had a rental car and the headlights froze over, never had that problem with the little heat the projectors put out Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I haven't. i go thru phases/hobbies every month or so. I put the Volsa bulbs in and didn't like the slight blue tint and swapped them back out for the hella's. then I bought some trucklight knockoffs and ran those for about 10 mins. they just scatter light and don't produce enough usable light so I sent them back. I'm a bit spoiled from my daily's projectors. I have a kit 80% done, just need to seal up the fxr projector in the housing I cut out and open up the front support. the fxr's might be about 1/4" too long on the passenger side and the igniter may touch the battery, but my jeep phase has passed and I'm into precision shooting and load development this month. +97 XJ doors on MJ
cody4359 replied to Big Island Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I did a write up a long time ago.rhey wull bolt up, but you'll have to get the 97+ striker plate. I just used a piece of flat bar, drilled 2 holes and welded nuts on, then pried the old retainer plate off the inside of b pillar, dremeled out the hole for fitment and drilled new lower hole. wiring your on your own Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
replaced the lower control arm bushings and motor mounts. tomorrow hopefully I can get to the neighbors and weld in the resonator to quite the beast down Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Need new piston rings, how to determine bore?
cody4359 replied to ARareBreed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
more than likely standard bore if it hasn't been touched. pull the head and put a inside mic down there to be sure. I just put mahle or whatever they are called in, no file to fit Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
Front axle rotational play causing CLUNK CLUNK?
cody4359 replied to Rohls's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
for browndog rubber mounts you tighten the lock nut til the washer barley moves. literally no tension, and I still habe so vibrations. for the axle clunk, if there isn't a driveshaft in it I doubt that's the problem. my rear pinion rotates about a half a turn and clunks real bad going thru town on part throttle. I've had a clunk/creak I chased for a while and it was the bolts on the inner unibody that tighten the motor mount bracket to the unibody. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
is that the correct hinge? have you messed with shimming the door? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

so is this accurate? I just weighed mine and I'm thinking of shaving some lbs if possible. I came in at 4240 lbs, full 22 gal tank, tools and high lift, no spare tire and without myself. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I've found that my weather techs in my f150 lose the slippery feeling after cleaning once the dirt starts to build up and they dull back out. even when they are slick, it's not like I'm trying to stand on them so it doesn't really bug me Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

depending on how your main leaf is (mine was wore about 1/4 thru from the u bolt that his them together at the ends) you can make a bastard pack. are you going foe height or load capacity? I had a spare set of mj leafs and made a bastard pack for a hunting trip then swapped them out when I got home. I recall reading a few threads about using dakota or f150 packs from a junk yard but you have to either move the front mount or rear mount since they are longer. might be worth looking into for a cheap alternative with some elbow grease Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

make your own?? 350 is fairly cheap in my opnion. I was going to have some custom multi leaf packs made and that was going to be abut 700 bucks. ended up going with general springs a few months ago. they wear a bit more than 300 shipped if I rember right but I'm happy with them and they arrived quick. a quick Google search will let you add them to your cart and see what shipping will be Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
