That's too bad. It's horror stories like these that are my reasoning for having older vehicles that are easier to work on. I just don't trust any shop to do any work on my vehicles. Looks like its going to be a PITA to remove too. What are you going to put back in it? I really like the Raptor liner in my truck.

Just throwing this thought out there-It looks like this truck has had a poor repaint. The bottoms of the rocker panels aren't painted and you can see the runs on the rocker. That said, it looks like a very solid and a good driver quality and usable Jeep as is.

I put an AAL in the rear of my blue truck to lift it a couple of inches. I would say it rides better than a JKU. I'd go so far as to say it rides better than my GF's car. These are a pretty smooth riding truck, IMHO. If you don't cheap out on suspension parts, then I think you will retain a good, smooth ride.

I just read this whole build thread. Your attention to detail on the things that you did to this truck is amazing!

It was super cold here in early Feb. It's crazy how high the prices of materials are. We were going to rebuild a retaining wall this year, but decided not to due to the costs of it.

We also say "yous guys", we call people from IL "FIB"s (F***ing Illinois Bastards), the upper penninsula of MI the "UP", "Uff-da" instead of darn in a case where you are saying "Uff-da, I didn't realize that your ma passed", "Cripes" instead of darn or dang in an instance like "for cripes sake!", "c'mere" instead of come here "you betcha" which roughly translates to you're welcome or of course, real quick once (added to pretty much any sentence if you want someone to do something now), and we ad "or no" to the end of every question. I could go on and on with our quirks.

Apparently, only people in the midwest say Ope. Like "Ope, let me just squeeze right past ya" is a legit sentence that everyone here says, or "Ope, scuse me, sorry 'bout that"

I would love to see them have names too, but if you think about it, lots of manufacturers have been having letter/number names for years (Mercedes, BMW, some Subarus). I'm genuinely curious as to how this unfolds though. Jeep and the Cherokee nation will come up with some sort of phase-out and let the vehicles run for a few years before changing their name.

I think it is time to get our MJ island to live on now. This is a great point, that thought hadn't crossed my mind yet. I'm not sure what they will need to do. Maybe they will just be called by their body codes. I'm sure any name would be offensive at this point.

I agree, that the XJ/MJ should be left behind. I only brought them up to point out that Jeep has used other Native American names in the past, and I always viewed it out of respect for those people. I'm sure Jeep will come up with something stupid for a new name if they change them.

Well, it looks like the Cherokee nameplate might be going away from Jeep. Let me start off by saying that I have no Native American heritage. They way I always looked at the Cherokee (and Comanche, Mojave nameplate, etc.) was out of respect towards these people. It’s a 35 year old work truck. This is when trucks were still built to be worked by there owners. Most everything that you would want to do (save for a complete restoration) could just about be done in a weekend. Welcome to the club.

Most of what you are saying is going way over my head. I’ll just stick with playing with old vehicles.

Personally, I’d have a hard time buying a truck lifted much over 3”. I’d NEVER buy a truck that has had the bedsides cut.
