  1. I would love to see them have names too, but if you think about it, lots of manufacturers have been having letter/number names for years (Mercedes, BMW, some Subarus). I'm genuinely curious as to how this unfolds though. Jeep and the Cherokee nation will come up with some sort of phase-out and let the vehicles run for a few years before changing their name.
  2. I think it is time to get our MJ island to live on now. This is a great point, that thought hadn't crossed my mind yet. I'm not sure what they will need to do. Maybe they will just be called by their body codes. I'm sure any name would be offensive at this point.
  3. Exactly! Modern society is so contradictory. We need diversity and to have the minorities recognized, but not that way. The Mojave were a native american people too https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohave_people
  4. Just wait, some person named Willy will get offended by the Willys trim level
  5. OOOOOO, I'll play! I have: 86 XJ front axle 2002 Explorer Sport Trac rear axle 84 XJ door 96 XJ engine 97 XJ transmission 96 XJ transfer case ?? MJ tailgate ?? MJ sportbar (soon to install) ?? MJ sliding rear window ?? OEM front skidplate (soon to install) 88 MJ bucket seats and other parts Along with plenty brand new parts
  6. I agree, that the XJ/MJ should be left behind. I only brought them up to point out that Jeep has used other Native American names in the past, and I always viewed it out of respect for those people. I'm sure Jeep will come up with something stupid for a new name if they change them.
  7. Well, it looks like the Cherokee nameplate might be going away from Jeep. The Cherokee Chief (sorry, had to say it) has requested that Jeep stops using its name. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a35568468/cherokee-nation-jeep-stop-using-name/ Let's discuss. Let me start off by saying that I have no Native American heritage. They way I always looked at the Cherokee (and Comanche, Mojave nameplate, etc.) was out of respect towards these people. Many other people viewed it this way too.
  8. It’s a 35 year old work truck. This is when trucks were still built to be worked by there owners. Most everything that you would want to do (save for a complete restoration) could just about be done in a weekend. Welcome to the club.
  9. Most of what you are saying is going way over my head. I’ll just stick with playing with old vehicles.
  10. Personally, I’d have a hard time buying a truck lifted much over 3”. I’d NEVER buy a truck that has had the bedsides cut.
  11. I used a set have of 3” XJ lift springs. Maybe they were 4”.
  12. Probably a KJ CRD engine. I think he has at least 1 extra of those.
  13. Oh I think we are a bunch of freaking Einsteins here.
  14. That truck is not a short bed. 86s were long bed only. It is very difficult to put a 4.0 in an 86. @eaglescout526 is the 2.5 guy.
  15. I wonder how much time that we all have in “helping” in this thread?
  16. Here is something I saw at an automobile museum in Kenosha in 2016. The 5 millionth 4.0 with all of the factory workers signatures on it.

Yes! No museum for me—my trucks don’t get a free ride.

    Production years?

You could get a 5 speed LJ in 2004 I think. 05 and 06 were 6 speeds. I’ve also hear that you couldn’t get an manual in 04, so
  20. Yeah, I was thinking Renix 4.0 years and ignoring the other engines
  21. 87-90 has one header panel, 91-96 has a different one. The grille and headlight bezels are a little different.
  22. That's exactly what I'm saying. I really need to get a stated value for my blue truck this spring (not for $30,000 of course).
