Agreed. and that is the ultimate coin flip. I've tried my darnedest to keep this place as simple and cheep as possible, but that philosophy has caused a plethora of headaches over the years (loss of photos, repeatedly hitting the storage or bandwidth caps, having to delete spammers one at a time, that one time we were outright hacked, etc). :( It's time to at least explore what the alternatives are and what it'll cost. competing with the newer social media is only going to get harder.

we're working on a bypass, but the pic host company PhotoBucket recently decided to charge an outrageous amount for hosting pics and it's absolutely destroying the world of the hobbyist. :( so much info might be lost forever.

which improvements are you just dying for? it's not the site that matters, it's the folks on the site. :thumbsup: if someone else wants to make their own site for MJs, they will do so regardless of how many site names I own. plus I'm just about penniless so it's a moot point anyhow.

I do own this site (hosted by a 3rd party host). some of the pic extensions are not allowed by the forum software. can't remember if that is alterable or not. :dunno: Alexia is our main computer guru so you're likely to get a better answer from him.

anyone know if its possible to host some photos on CC with software that automatically shrinks the pic size to a reasonable amount? we wouldn't need any 5 or 8 meg pics for what we do. what about a cap on the number of pics hosted per member?

it won't necessarily mean a whole inch of difference under weight, but interesting none the less. :dunno: might just be that the owner had a fat friend sitting on the passenger side a lot?

and you say one is longer than the other? can you tell where the extra length is? maybe a longer tail?

plan for those tires. plan around those tires. you'll need strength and gearing. the dana 35 isn't going to live long, even as a street rig. the 8.25 from a 97+ cherokee or an 8.8 from under a late 90s Explorer are popular upgrades. the dana 44 from an MJ or early XJ is awesome too, but can be challenging to find and expensive when you do. car-part.com can help with junkyard searches. notes: the XJ can be found with a dana 35 during those years so check before buying. v6 and v8 explorers have the same axle just with different brackets. don't pay extra for something that you're going to remove anyway. 4.10 gears can be found in 8.8s also, there's a writeup for a 6" budget lift in the DIY forum. see the link in my signature.

what is it that you want to do with the truck once it's finished? what engine/trans do you have now?

86 v6 will have a mechanical pump on the engine, not an electric in the tank.

I always thought that too, but a few of the gurus on here that were involved with Jeep back in the day, as well as a couple original owners have put forth claims of it being offered. and there is ALWAYS the possibility of it being "custom" ordered. :D Jeep dealerships were desperate to move product at the end of the AMC era and the trucks were like legos. :yes: just pick and choose what you'd like!
