  1. those coils would likely do the job (impossible to say for sure since the metric ton could be had with different engines and you'd need to know exactly which it was design for). otherwise, the poly lift pucks will work fine. (it's not a "body lift" though. that term means putting spacers between the body and frame, which is not possible on an MJ. )
  2. oh, and early years show they had some 8.25s with 4.10 gears. neat! :D
  3. the snout length of my '06 Liberty 8.25 (with disks) seems to be the same as my MJ dana 44, which is 1" longer than a dana 35. WMS-WMS is 63". wider than I thought. :dunno: should complement an MJ nicely since the bed of an MJ is wider than the front making the tires tuck in too much. :D it's a 3 link coil sprung axle, so be prepared to slice and dice a bunch of brackets to clean it up. not all libbys had disks or even 8.25s, so verify before purchasing.
  4. I bet if you dissasembled each one enough, you could build a 2wd 5spd to use. but I would keep looking for a 2wd one. car-part.com might be of help. just be sure to search for various years as I'm sure the part number changed now and again. if there's a pull-a-part.com near you, they list the cars with engine size (won't tell 2wd vs 4wd or even if the trans is still there, but it's a start)
  5. are you converting to 4wd?
  6. still in their factory locations :)
  7. we have a writeup for slapping disks on an XJ axle. the pics don't work, but we're working on a fix for the photobucket debacle so that may change soon. http://comancheclub.com/topic/48710-diy-projects-writeups-master-search-index/
  8. that would depend on the weather. but it's time to rotate the tires anyway, so we'll see. :)
  9. a caveat is the pinion is a flange with the u-joint adapter bolted on. I'd wager that it's a bit longer than a dana 35 snout. I've got one of each here so tomorrow I'll go try to estimate the measurements. other than that it's just more bracketry to hack off than an XJ one.
  10. tech questions should probably go in the tech forum. more eyes will see them.
  11. those are both axle shaft counts. won't affect the driveshaft at all.
  12. the 3.4 is just an updated design. it'll still look very much original. (though it could stand to get a better carb on it)
  13. very cool!
  14. you still don't need or want the pitman drop. the steering and track bar should be parallel or bumpsteer can occur. dropping the pitman puts the system out of parallel. :(
  15. spline difference of what?
  16. just a heads up, the extra mount really isn't the most necessary thing in the world. the bar isn't going to save your head in a rollover so simply popping holes through the bed is sufficient to hold up some lights. but I always admire the hunt for factory-spec. . :MJ 1: .
  17. I know the Jeep Libertys could be had with an 8.25 and disks.
  18. you don't need or want the drop pitman (unless your track bar bracket includes a comparable drop). it has the correctt width and bolt pattern. you'll need to move the perches to the MJ's location. the 8.25 can get a junkyard disk conversion too, so you might want to look into it before spending money on the drums.
  19. an AX-4 and AX-5 are the same, if they come from the same vehicle. wranglers are a bit different in how they mount the t-case shifter and the clocking of the t-case (to clear the belly pan I think). wrangler up top, MJ/XJ below
  20. the new trans will clock your t-case up a bit. helps with ground clearance, but miiiiiight touch the floorboards. I have a TJ trans in mine and it clears (close, but clears), but others needed to hit the floorboards with a big hammer a couple times.
  21. loose bolt floating around inside?
  22. is there an extra wire for that ability? maybe you could just pull it out of the switch.
  23. just to throw this in the hat because it happened with me (ymmv), but cracking the seal of the hood (I did it for cooling) lets all the stinky smells of the engine bay get right into the cab as I hit 45pmh+. :( fortunately my cooling mod wasn't passive and if I hit the fan (which was installed for slow trails) on the highway, the fan pushed the smells forward into the air stream and the stinky-ness stopped :)
  24. should be a big list of various definitions at the bottom of the list here:  http://comancheclub.com/topic/48710-diy-projects-writeups-master-search-index/
  25. lookin' good. :D what's the handle next to the passenger for?
