yeah, so this would be the pre-pre-pre-pre-production model and is not for sale. compared to XJs, Libertys are a... complicated beast up front. I now know why there aren't many bumper choices out there. I still haven't addressed the exposed horns or washer bottle, and the center skidplate is my best attempt at protecting the fragile bits right behind it. But I have given thought to a design that could be replicated, at least for the late KJs like mine. I need to be able to spend more time at Brandon's and it'll be a bit before I can do that. This trip was just a stopover on the way back to GA.

yes, but our trucks rot from the inside-out. you need to coat the inside of the frame, rockers, doors, etc. the surfaces you see are not the parts that fail first. its sad, but true.- 53 replies

WD40 eats paint over time. I prefer a spray lithium grease.

holy crap I now have a bumper! like, a whole bumper, not just a bracket that holds up the winch. I stopped by for a way-too-short visit with Brandon on my way back to GA and we were able to knock out the last bit of the bumper using his mad fab skills. I still need to finish up some internal painting and get those last 2 bolts in place, but it looks fantastic

heck, a modern phone might be able to keep track of your speeds and such via an app. you can totally big-brother yourself

just bought my second one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Anytek-X28-1080P-HD-Car-DVR-Camera-WiFi-G-sensor-ADAS-Video-Recorder-Dash-Cam/292807559841 $20 bucks shipped from china. no speed readout though. I'll see how much effort it's going to be to produce a snippet of the quality but it's light years ahead of the $10 one I was experimenting with. you can always get a second device that tracks your speeds. I've seen ones that plug into the obd2 port and use gps to track you around.

88 MJ with 3inch lift -- How big of tires can I fit?

33s only give you 1" more ground clearance over 31s and come with exponentially more headaches if you're trying to keep a survivor truck intact. -
97+ door glass and door panel on MJ
Pete M replied to jonb8's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
although it's not original, the choices for "modernizing" (in quotes because it involves replacing 30 year old stuff with 20 year old stuff) the inside of your MJ are... limited. -

Gjeep has a writeup in his build thread about putting one-piece windows in his MJ using the Chinese 2500 guts (their version of the XJ). as for interiors, I'd wager there's gotta be something about the interior panels in the link in my sig. -

ahh, the joys of the internet. this is precisely why I try to get the actual projects on our site whenever possible. -
the link in my signature will have the link to Cruiser's website which covers grounds and such. eventually you should do all of his MJ tips that are applicable to your year. .

what are you planning for your first big project?

better injectors and the bored out TBs are good ways to boost power. if you haven't seen it yet, there's a guy in the "vendor" section of the classifieds that bores out the renix TBs.

would if I could, but the open diff is far more important to the rest of the property. the back acre is mostly forest and thankfully I only have to deal with it a couple times a year to fight back the briers.

the HOs have a tiny bit more at the top end, but the renix has a tiny bot more at the bottom end. the engines are more or less the same. the later fuel injection systems are the big difference, but it's not in felt power, but rather more reliable wiring and 91-95 has OBD1 and 96+ is OBD2 for easier diagnoses.
