found a list of junkyard upgrades :)
Pete M replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I assume that drop pitman has been combined with a drop trackbar bracket? -
that number means very little compared to how well it was maintained. there are guys pushing the half-million mark. and I've seen remaned motors fail.

bump for good info -
what has happened to the current motor?
-
there is a learning curve for sure. once you get the hang of it, it's easy. but yeah, once you upload the vid from your computer/phone to youtube.com then they have the video saved and you can come back here to put a link to it in your textbox. then people can see it in your thread, but we aren't responsible for storing and paying for the video playing, youtube is.

where are they being hosted?

found it in the paypal emails.

unless you're looking for an huge engine/harness swap, get a 4.0L from the start (that will eliminate the '86 MJs). rust free is the most important thing to me. floors are always suspect no matter how nice the outside is (they are prone to leaks getting under the carpet). obviously the condition of the bed matters little to you. they are trucks, so the bed can get a bit beat up over the years. 87-89.5 came with a weak stickshift, but it's easily swapped out for the later ones. essentially they got a little better each year, so all things equal I'd probably take a 91 over an 87, but I'd never turn down a good deal on an 87. These trucks are like Legos. you can build whatever you want. even 4wd bolts right in to a 2wd without modifying the body. there's a thread at the top of this forum about the "most important tips" that will have lots of good, um, tips.

swb or lwb won't matter on this, MJs are all ridiculously long compared to wranglers. in a good way of course.

I'm getting a WK2 soon. Any good forums out there???

I tend to gravitate back to CC for my Liberty needs. Always seems to be someone around with the answer I seek. well, here and google. Facebook will be the death of us all. they are like the walmart of the internet. a one-stop shop with a little bit of everything, but doesn't really do anything all that well. -
yes. but keep in mind at that height different trucks can have different needs and if yours is super sloppy than a longer yoke will help. :)

6 or 7" has been done with regularity. we have a much longer wheelbase than XJs and wranglers and so the angles are far less extreme. having said that, the SYE is a great upgrade if you've got the cash. and new shafts for non-SYE setups are not expensive.

Factory-Original Sport Bar Install (With KC-Lights)
Pete M replied to NEO auto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
very nice! did you install the under-bed brackets that go with the bar? -
almost forgot to plug in the Jeep last night. got in and took off my coat and boots before I had that nagging thought if I did it or not. that would have sucked. it's a balmy 9* outside. I wonder how long the heater would have taken to get it to starting temp...

2.5 v belt style harmonic balancer obsolete?
Pete M replied to Shortbusdriver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can't say for sure, but the chevy idea definitely has merit. for better or for worse AMC used a ton of parts from other manufacturers. -
87 AMC Comanche Manuals
Pete M replied to Comanchejeepgal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it might be a duplicate to the one above, but there's a link to an 88 manual in the link in my signature. -
I have a feeling that he t-stat needs replacing. it's probably stuck open. there's no way in hell I'm doing that now though. that's a job for 2 weeks from now when I'm back in GA.
