  1. are your current ones intact? can you weld an extension in the form of a plate to the axle side of the equation?
  2. I'll take you up on that. Party at Pete's (parents') house! there are a slew of electrical issues. also bring a radio with you. mine doesn't do bluetooth. (technically it doesn't do anything, it's one of the issues ) But first in line is the R/T (gotta sell it to pay back the money I borrowed and hopefully have extra funds to sink into this MJ)
  3. at this point I'm not even looking for perfection, just to protect what I've got. but that's a ways away anyway. the Dakota and the Libby have priority. and my father's surgery on weds has priority over them. lots of time to contemplate. maybe I can grab an old hood to practice on...
  4. the other what? the comanche in my avatar pic? that's tucked in next to the barn under the shelter I built for it and my empty shell MJ. score! found my window sticker
  5. that is a seriously good looking truck nice score!
  6. I wonder how many other car buyers gut the interior within hours of purchase... There is some rust, but nothing horrible. Worst part is that it got under that frame cap. not sure how to proceed short of drilling out 50 dang spot welds. oh well, that's a fight for another day. as soon as the padding under the dash is dry I'm putting the seat back and parking her in the barn and out of the weather 'til I'm ready for the next phase of this resto.
  7. the clearcoat on my new baby is... gone. in some spots there's a hint of the primer coming through. Has anyone just gone ahead and buffed and hit it with quality clearcoat? I know Don had success with it, but his paint was in better shape to start with. There will not be any budget for a real paintjob anytime soon.

Just bought this from the original owner. a red 2wd 76k mile Pioneer with bench, air, tilt, steel rims, dana 35, factory fogs, dealership-installed cruise. nothing has been altered. I like it
  9. will do currently waiting on some help before I lift the bench out, but so far I've pulled back the carpet and there is some rust in there (and a couple gallons of water in the padding). but so far it's by far the least amount of rust I've ever seen after pulling back an MJ carpet. I did manage to find the factory Jeep fog light covers under the seat so that at least answers my question of if they are OEM.
  10. sexy, isn't she? 88, red, 2wd, pioneer, 4.0, stick, grey interior. just like my original baby (the one in my avatar). Not exact though, this one has a bench, cruise, tilt, steelies, and official Pioneer decals instead of the hideous gold Olympic stripe. Driving it home brought back a lot of memories. She has 76k miles and I'm the second owner. I'll eventually be doing a restoration, but since I can't spend all of my money every day, I first need to sell off the only thing I own of value: my single-owner, even fewer miles Dakota R/T. It tears me up that I can only keep one of them, but I don't live the "Dakota lifestyle" so the choice has been made. (gotta do a few repairs in the Dak first) But even before I get to the Dakota, I gotta pull up the MJ's carpet asap. the undersides of the floors are very solid, but there is definitely moisture in the padding. She's not perfect (I'll go in to more detail when I start a build thread) but I think that's perfect for me. It was scary enough driving this thing through Atlanta traffic, I'm not sure I could handle driving a perfect truck around.
  11. yeah, definitely swap the 2 round relays if you haven't already
  12. I love the movies, but I'm not quite sure I can get away with that level of fandom. cool idea though. I could have one rig as a jedi and one as a sith what about "MANCHE6"? it would be my 6th MJ so far. (6.5 technically) I'm still leaning to a plate that acknowledges the history somehow. This truck is right out of the 80s
  13. I'm not doing this, but the thought of giving the 88 "FULL JP" and the trailer "HALF JP" made me smile
  14. I don't have a bracket for it, but I imagine I can acquire one.
  15. I love it where your heads at, but it's not 4wd. Not really a shocker, but 2WDJEEP is available (That's actually tempting, just for the LOLs...) I'm warming up to AMCJEEP. feels like a good way to give props to the company that designed it.
  16. I think there's a refurb thread in the link in my sig.
  17. and the CC can know host the photos for you! it's like living in the future!
  18. awesome! we can't yet host the video, but you can load it to youtube and then drop the link here.
  19. wow, that is pretty ugly. I'll start with the obvious question, are you planning to paint it a uniform color?
  20. what's wrong with your e-brake? is the ratcheting part ok?
  21. sounds like a good plan especially the AC part!
  22. make sure you pull the fender flares (I only mention it because not everyone does ) I would pull the header panel too and have it painted separate, but that's just me.
  23. the 5spd manual was only at the very, very beginning of the ZJ run
