  1. My gut says they would be a bit too long for our little doors
  2. who is it that can't be bothered to run to the post office?
  3. 100! holy moley they've gone up in price since I bought mine (but don't forget to add in a 20% off coupon!) edit: found some for under $50 each: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Ton-Heavy-Steel-Jack-Stands-2-Pack-24-000-lb-Weight-Capacity-By-Big-Red/173860317464?epid=1878913694&hash=item287ae1e918:g:ykIAAOSwBmJco4wL similar deals on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Torin-Big-Steel-Jack-Stands/dp/B0002H335A/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=12+ton+jack+stands&qid=1554467131&s=gateway&sr=8-3
  4. don't forget to add in a flex pipe
  5. I put anti-seize in that location too
  6. yeah, the more I think of it, the more I'm leaning towards a regular plate. the hassle of antique just isn't worth the savings. and someday I want to show up at Lowes with a MJ towing an MJ trailer just because. random things I've learned today while screwing around with the search: -plenty of number-letter combos aren't allowed (for example, "1988 MJ" is not allowed simply because it's 4 numbers followed by 2 letters) -1234567 is taken -7654321 is deemed "inappropriate" -123456 is not allowed because it's 6 numbers -SAMPLE is inappropriate -PLATE is taken -0000000 and 1111111 are taken -8888888 is "inappropriate" -IH8YOU is available -IH8YOU2 is taken -GLDIATR is taken -JPTRUCK is taken -0111110 and 011110 are taken -REALTRK is taken -BESTDAMNTRUCKEVER doesn't fit in their little box for some reason
  7. oh, i bet that's nice. there were plenty of times on the trail I needed that kind of boost. (curse that minispool!)
  8. what axles are you running? how much fender trimming are you willing to do?
  9. grab all you can!
  10. it would appear someone already took "LICENSE". AMCJEEP is available, but the truck is an 88 and I'm not sure I want to have that discussion of semantics over and over.
  11. that one is taken, but I did find variations using 1's an i's that weren't.
  12. if we're suggesting plates, I should probably mention that michigan limits me to 7 characters. oh, and "manche" is already taken.
  13. 'tis a drool-worthy collection
  14. not sure I want passersby in GA to know my name as I'm tooling along at the speed limit
  15. I think the ZJ 4.0 is swap-able with MJ/XJs. Don't start undoing bolts until someone confirms that though
  16. The new truck isn't in my driveway yet, so I still have some time to figure out what to do about plates for it. An 88 is old enough for historic plates in Michigan (my official place of residence), but the truck will forever be in Georgia (I have no access to sheltered parking in MI). I think I might have some future complications because of the restrictions on "historic" rides and the fact that no matter where I'm going I'll never be going to or from my "place of residence" 750 miles away. Money aside, I think I might want to go with a regular plate just to not ever worry about that. Plus "OLDJEEP" is available as a michigan plate. can't find anything that says I can have both historic and personalized. any thoughts on going the historic route? on a side note I learned that, as a historic vehicle, I can use an original 1988 plate on my truck for authenticity. Bummer is that michigan only had the "blue plates" by 88, which are kinda boring.
  17. "newer" you'll be trading in 30 year old parts for 20 year old parts + a ton of work. BUT if you get a bump in gear ratio, then it might be worth it. ZJ front axle should go right in (but is low pinion).
  18. YJs are wranglers. ZJs are grands from 93-98. WJs are grands from 99-04 a pic of the Jeep would answer any doubt.
  19. lookin' good! which rear brake kit did you go with?
  20. you've got an AX-5 the t-5 has way less ribbing.
  21. I went with the biggest, baddest 20v impact dewalt sells. I believe it is 700ftlbs? it has yet to let me down. I debated a lot over the lesser ones, but it boiled down to: this is not my normal, everyday go-to tool... if pull it out, it HAS to succeed. plus I already have their impact driver which does a decent job with loosening most regular nuts/bolts.
  22. https://www.oreillyauto.com/flux-500.html
  23. couldn't you buy it, try it, and return it if it fails to meet your needs?
  24. you could also replace the bushings in the leafs/shackles.
