be sure to snag the VIN somehow so we can see the build date.

What transmission do i have it has no part number

AX-15 will be aluminum. and whomever worked on it apparently screwed something up inside. maybe missed a retainer. no such thing as a 4spd AX-15. -
I do believe the 4th digit would be an M for a Metric Ton. the 4th digit is the GVWR.

if you alter them in any way on a PC they should upload correctly. meaning you double bluffed it on the ones you rotated upside down because now it uploaded them correctly, but they were upside down. -
8 nuts/bolts. those are easy. it's the other things that take the most time. in a junkyard I can pull a bed in under 20 minutes. but I can cut through anything that doesn't release easy.

they changes a lot of things in 91, but kept the overall feel. in 97 they did a complete redesign. apparently right down to the grille dimensions. good to know.
-
the 87-90 parts manual contains no mention of an MJ hitch. only a lightduty and a heavyduty for the XJ and a pintle hitch for the J series. leads me to believe that the hitch might have been like the sunroof.
-
might have something to do with the MT altering the GVWR and that would be in the VIN. oddly enough, the 87-90 parts manual has a slightly different order of the VIN explanation.
-
is there a mopar part number for the hitch?

@VintageJC out of curiosity, are you using a phone or a laptop to upload? if phone, apple or android? were all the pics taken with the phone/camera in the same orientation? -

is the thick center plate between the front half and the rear half made of steel or aluminum? hit it with a magnet real quick. -

I can't seem to find a photo from the back side, but the 2 tails of these 2 AX-15s are different. (ignore the circled peugeot) maybe early AX-15s or maybe dakota AX-15s had a different tail piece? a side photo should clear this up in a heartbeat. -
been a while since I've thought about it, but shouldn't the cap fail first?
