It struggled less than lots of new cars. The CJs are great, but man, that Elco would’ve been such a cool rig. My Dad had one with a V8 and a 4 speed as a first car, but someone pulled out of a parking lot at night with no lights and the it got wrecked. I think the ergonomics of a G body are darn near perfect. Mine was a smogged 305 with an auto. I was not a fan. it was ok for everything, but not good at anything. Not a car, not a truck. Just an odd bastard child.

White_Comanche Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 Ok, if I can get Real Meta on this, I had the pleasure of driving each of these cars before my "first" 1993 Chrysler LaBaron. If you can believe this, I got to drive a 1978 blaze orange Cherokee Chief. Like this... but not so shiny. Dip Sh__T brother somehow got ahold of it during college, and then it was soon sold. Next I got his hand-me-down 1979 Dodge Magnum (maroon like this) with a landau vinyl top (also maroon). I miss each of these deeply. May have been the only one in family who actually appreciated them. This was 15—16—17 years old.
GonzoTheGreat Posted June 6 Posted June 6 In high school I learned to drive in my moms toyota sienna, and to drive stick in my dads corolla. Immediately after I bought a clapped out old bmw e30 as my first car, and I had a lot of fun with that thing.
pizzaman09 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 My twin brother and I were lucky enough for our grandparents to give us their 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight for our first car. We drove it for 17 years until it was too rusty underneath to reasonably pass PA inspection. It's the only automatic vehicle we've owned. I miss it dearly. Pics just before it was sold to my brother's coworker in NY where he still daily drives it. Occasionally in highschool our parents would let us drive their 1998 BMW 740iL or even more rarely their 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.
ComancheKid45 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Circa 2004. This was my senior picture. I still have this truck and its still on the road. 😎

Same. I went zero to hero with that car. When I bought it I didnt even know what a torque converter was. A few years later I was manual swapping it. That really raised the fun factor. I'm glad it rotted out before I got into any real trouble
Torq_Shep Posted Thursday at 05:23 AM Posted Thursday at 05:23 AM A 2-door 1994 Cherokee SE 4x4 5spd naturally.
Pete M Posted Thursday at 02:35 PM Posted Thursday at 02:35 PM 85.5 Escort and 86 Aerostar. both manual transmission! both were a hoot to drive (neither image was our actual ride) fun fact, apparently our local Ford dealership was such an incredible pain to deal with on the warranty issues, these were the last Fords my dad ever purchased. it's weird to think that I might not be so into chryslers if Ford had simply fixed their lemons?
Gojira94 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Green 1974 Volvo 145DL. The beginning of my relationship with Volvos hahaha. I cried when it got used as a trade in for my step-sister’s new 1990 Accord Coupe. They got $100 for it. Failing transmission and Flintstone power with only 247,000 miles on the clock. I’d love to have another one for a stealth turbo LS swap.
