Peanut_butter_mj
I was wondering what paints or livery that weren’t common on these old pickups. I was wondering because mine I don’t see very many I’ve only seen one like it online.
DesertRat1991
I doubt anybody has actual production figures on livery packages, or a reliable estimate on survivorship. OEM livery packages changed by model and production year, then the oddball dealer promo vehicle might have something completely custom. Let's see whatcha got. Billabob
Sadly mine has been repainted, and somewhat poorly at that, but it used to be a dark metallic grey which I almost never see on here.
Pete M
paint code is on the little metal plate in the engine bay up in the corner by the driver. and no, we've not yet found any official breakdowns of paints or trim packages or literally anything. even the annual total build numbers don't fully make sense. Classy Comanche
I know they did a "Olympics of 1988" edition. Let's see what you got. The only Comanches I've seen in my town are red with tan and white livery (mine) a white with red accent, dark red with black and sliver livery and a silver with a red a black livery

Classy Comanche
Huh. Pretty neat. All the colors I've seen on MJ's look good. It's unfortunate we don't have a build number on colors/trims from '86-'92. The only way you could even possibly get that info was if somehow you got a hold of the old AMC/Renault/Jeep production spreadsheet from way back when...which I doubt exists. Is it factory or is it aftermarket? It very well could be a aftermarket paint job done professionally. When I get off work I'll look at the plate on my engine bay and put it here as well
jpnjake
I know some of the rarest ones were the 91 and 92 pioneer striped, you can see them on @acfortier’s silver star, the 91 and 92 eliminators are also rare, I also haven’t seen many original 4x4 86 setups, 86 also had a lot more odd options with the 2 tone paint and all
Whitaker717
My 87 is currently Briarwood Metallic. I have only seen a few of them.
Pete M
at this point in time pretty much all remaining colors are rare. just some are even more rare than others. someone find me one of the 15 yellow MJs from that Pensoil giveaway.

Classy Comanche
Any color is a fantastic color. If I find any trucks running around town o make it my mission to run them down and speak to them about the truck and try to get then here. As Pete said all colors are rare colors! Classy Comanche
Here's mine. Paint is a bit faded but she's rust free and runs like a top! It's a 1988 Pioneer short bed. The green truck is just a cool dude that backed in front of me wanting to chat

thehomelesdepot
My 87 two tone Grenadine/Sterling Silver is fairly rare. Only saw one other in person and a few online over the years. Did see a Cherokee with this paint scheme once.
Classy Comanche
@FrankTheDogthat green Ford now belongs to my stepfather. He bought it off the guy not long after this picture. Maybe a week or two after? It's a super nice truck. A project at that but super nice. When I'm parked beside it it makes my truck look like a toy truck lol

Classy Comanche
My great great grandfather said this one came with the rails back in '87. I have looked online at other trucks and seen a very few handful that has these. I have my window sticker that came with the truck. I'll look at it when I have time. He did install aftermarket fog lights which I know aren't factory. But that's what he told me just weeks before he passed away early December

Bezerk1
I saw someone mentioned the 88 Olympic edition. Got one just recently and doing some homework on them. The brochures I got said all three wrangler, Cherokee, & Comanche came with a gold strip and olym. Rings. Pretty sure the strip is a decal
