What’s weird is I drove all day turned it off and when I turned it back on it sounded like an airplane. Idling time now though.

So going through some trouble shooting, looked at the hoses they looked good, tps was like 4.87 I think, cleaned the iac, and somehow it is back normal. Are those iac’s that temperamental? Anyone have any reccomendations for a new one?Or even have a working used one.

Hi guys I need some emergency help. The good news is I fixed the vent issue. The bad news is I had to take the lower dash balance off so everything was disconnected. Once I got everything put back together the idle is so high it sounds like a jet plane. It’s almost like the computer isn’t talking to the engine or something. I don’t see any loose or disconnected hoses. I unplugged the battery , the iac, and tps and no luck. Can someone give me a troubleshooting hand.

I will have to get back to you on that one Pete. I can move it by hand but I’m not sure when I switch it to vent if it does. I’ll have to have someone look while I switch it back and forth.

This seems to have started when I did my thermostat I’m guessing. I fixed it and filled it up per the instructions. Everything is still stock. How do I go about getting air bubbles out if that’s what is causing it?

I looked at all the hoses and I don’t see any apparent issues. My heat and defrost work just fine. Where is the blend door for the vent? Or actuator. Thanks

I’m going to take a look today maybe. It’s freezing here where I live. Lol. It’s weird that this just started though by changing my thermostat. Pretty sure nothing got disconnected on accident but I’m not sure. Also strange to me not the other options work and I can hear the blend doors open for those.

I got it all done. I started it and unscrewed the sensor and it started coming out. I quickly screwed it back in. Lol. Hopefully I did it right. Seems to be ok so far. Now I just can’t get my vents to work properly. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hi guys, just got done doing a thermostat in the old 87 and when I went to turn the heat on, I have the def function, the heat function, but when I kick it to vent it stays coming out the bottom. I’m guessing a door is stuck or something. Where can I start looking? I hope I don’t have to try to take that dash off. Any help would be great. I did look through some old threads and couldn’t really find what I was looking for. Thanks

Hey Pete, today is the day I try the thermostat. Couple quick questions and I think I am ready. So you totally remove the temperature sensor before-filling? And do you fill the new coolant through the radiator hose as well instead of the bottle? Thanks

On a side note to that anyone know where to buy just the rubber washer? I’m heading down this road too. Not sure where or what size to buy.

I have never done it, so it should be interesting. I have yet to find any videos on it so I will try my best

Just the tstat. Water pump is only 2 years old. Just looking to replace the thermostat and refill my coolant with no air. Not sure how much to get though or really even do it. I’m going to give her the ole college try though. Lol

Did you fill from the hose off the thermostat housing? How much antifreeze should I get.

I hit my thermostat today so I may try to replace it while it’s nice. Anyone have step by step instructions for this closed system?

Anyone have any pictures of what the 1700 look like on a stock truck? Just curious

It has been on all this winter. Last winter I removed it on the advice of a member to bypass something so I would get more airflow from my blower motor. By disconnecting the hose the heat still worked but I was able to have the max ac option on and heat still came out instead of ac. At least that’s what I remember.

Gotcha. How you know if it works or not. I remember last year un hooking the hose that goes to that so heat would bypass the ac I think. Or the heat would blow through the ac setting. Pretty sure that works

I haven’t touched them. My heater core is brand new though. Like last August. Where is this heater control valve?

Does your heat still get hot. Mine was luke warm at best. I froze all the way to work. These little trucks should cook you out of the cab I would think.
