I’ve been watching Matt’s Off Road Recovery. Pretty cool to watch him recover vehicles with his, almost stock, XJ that are 2 & 3 times bigger than the XJ.

In one of the videos he stated that he is able to keep the temperature under control by adding a heater core and fan on one of hood louvers. He also said that he would  demonstrate it on another video. It might be worth looking into.

that's an interesting thought.  I've got a fan under my hoodscoop, but never thought to add a second tiny radiator.

Yeah he said it’s hooked into the heater hose making it think the heater is on. I don’t know how it does that but he seems confident that it works. He just posted it 3 days ago. Maybe you can understand how that works better than I can.

Pretty sure the XJs they have never even had a heater control valve, so coolant always flows through the heater core anyway. It's basically just a second radiator. Probably in series with the heater core.

A bit less known but also good are: Junkyard Dave (presently custom-building an AWD, Hellcat powered Charger wagon made from Magnum, Challenger and TrackHawk parts, amongst other projects), TheSketchMonkey (redesigning past and present cars), D.I.Y AUTO SCHOOL (warning to sensitive ears, this guy's LOUD and swears a lot but he is a master of his craft for auto body and repair), Wrench Every Day (really more into it now that Jared is the host), and of course, those crazy Brits from Bad Obsession Motorsport!!

My impression was that it was plumber in instead of the heater core. He also says at one point that his a/c is now colder than ever, which it would if he no longer had flow through the heater.

this channel is really popular among most young car guys all my friends watch them religiously. 'up to speed' was a series they did where they talk about the inception of cars here's one one on the xj cherokee.
