Dropped it off at an Auto Electric shop to solve the wiper and blower issues. He called and said the power distribution panel was corroded and needs replacing along with the main wire harness. YIKES!

Yup, I just accept that many of the MJs electronics won't work... And when they do it is just a plus.

Makes me glad I have manual locks/windows/mirrors

Broke my rear shock stud mount today.

So, decided to hack the rest off.

Drilled the biggest hole I could muster with what was available.

Wrapped the bolt with some tape for a snug fit in the shocks rubber insulator.

This temporary fix hopefully will last for a while.

Today I also rewired my driving lights. They're to bright to drive around town so I hooked the two lights in series (24V) to dim

them down. I'm guessing they will be dim like BMW's corona ring lights.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when wiring lights in series they only get half the voltage since they share the load?

Series and Parallel Connections

Connecting Components

There are two ways of connecting components:

In series

so that each component has the same current.

The battery voltage is divided between the two lamps

Each lamp will have half the battery voltage if the lamps are identical.

In parallel

so that each component has the same voltage.

Both lamps have the full battery voltage across them.

The battery current is divided between the two lamps.

V=I x R

My understanding is, the voltage is constant, (12v) therefore the current is halved (hence the dim lights) and the resistance of the lights is doubled being in series.

Got 48' of steel today for my bumpers and rocker rails :clapping: $400 delivered to my door step. Now it begins

Maybe a bit I'm not sure, not even close to as much of a difference as having the disk brakes in the rear instead of drums. I did it not so much to make more braking power (which I'm sure it did) but so that the pads would last a lot longer and not put out so much brake dust :ack: Do I think its worth it? Yes! I will also be doing this the to front pads when they need new pads also.

Your both right. When in series each light will only get half the voltage and current it would receive if hooked up by itself. Therefore each light will only be putting out 25% of its rated output.

I managed to score a free "fixed" wing window so I replaced my pivot wing (driver side) to reduce wind noise and water seepage. Now I need to find a good deal on the passenger side.

you need just the glass? I have my doors that will be switched out for a different set and the glass is still good. So if need the glass let me know.

I think the fixed and pivots are slightly different regarding the rubber and plastic mouldings, which is what causes the issues I'm having. Thank you for the offer but I will grab a fixed assembly at JY or on CL.

certainly nothing as exciting or worthwhile as you guys -- but I did load it and a trailer up and moved 617 miles to So Calif.

put new leaf springs on the rear...now it has a raked look...don't know whether to lessen the arch a little or raise the front to match... :hmm:

Posted

If they are new leafs then they will lower a bit after riding around with stuff in the bed. Or if you want the springs to go down faster then put a 4 wheeler in your bed for a few days. But I don't think you need to make the front any higher since the back will lower over time.
