I thought C6 as the easiest route but I do want OD just in case i want to road trip it for a camping expedition.
-
I know all about 8.8 swaps, I have one laying in the garage for my XJ! :D I didn't realize that explorers ever had a 5.0 in them. is the trans hydraulic?
-
Never heard of it.............:D Haha, kidding, I posted it there too. I believe you are around the Chicago area, correct? I am the MWC postwhore, Wade will agree!
-
Sorry, should have mentioned it has to be an auto. I believe the older AOD trans is hydraulic so getting it to work won't be an issue other than fitment. As for chevy swaps, I would do a 5.3 or 6.0. Truthfully, All its gonna be is a putting around truck it doesn't need to make nasty power, just get me to the camping spot or fishing hole. My Subie, once i get the overheating issues lined out, will be the fun toy! :D
-
Has anyone done one? I have a line on one out of a fox body with the computer for cheap. I figure if nobody wants to buy my damn truck I may as well replace the 2.8 with a 5.0! :D I'm wondering what trans(auto) I should use with it. its mainly gonna be my back burner play toy as I have my XJ and Subie to drive as well.

Way to go Dude!

I'm afraid its well past thicker oil being of any help. He said he put rotella in it and tried to quiet the knock. Hoping I can have the crank machined for oversize bearings and replace the mains while i'm in there. If I can't its motor swappin' time! :D Damn, why can't this be a 4 banger or an 87 with a 4.0!

I sold my TJ and then realized that the Miata was worth substantially more than I paid for it. So, I traded it and got this today: Ford finally pulled their head out of their butt, that coyote motor is rowdy! :ack:

Track Bar knocking.....
FlexdXJ replied to jeep_freek88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I agree with everyone else, adjustable is a must. I would also suggest a double shear setup if you plan on doing a lot of wheeling with it. I have Iron Rock's double shear adjustable on the XJ and i will have one on my MJ as well. -
Well, we started tearing into her a couple days ago. Got the pan dropped and the y-pipe cut out of the way. at a stopping point right now because my buddy has his kids this weekend. Got the crappy wally world lights replaced with these: Cost me a whole 22 bucks for Hella 500FF's! :D

Thanks dude! She's coming along nicely! You got some nice looking rust free rigs too! :D

I live in Richmond. You joined a great club. Tell Cardboard I said hello. Ha, Mike is a good Buddy of mine. He was the one who convinced me to join. He is also the one who hauled my MJ to my house!

My 97 is the same way! As for wanting power windows in a 97+ XJ, get ready for the switches to go bad on you. My First 97 XJ was that way. Mine also came with an idiot light cluster. Mine is oddly optioned. Its a sport with fogs, manual windows and locks, full cluster, and cruise.

FlexdXJ replied to Comanchero87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't have those but I know a couple WJ guys with their long arm kits and they are beefy too. -
Nice CJ, whereabouts in indiana are you exactly? I am located in Columbus and recently joined 4WTF. As for toys, I wheel/DD my XJ: current status Some wheeling shots Family farm in KY And finally a shot I thought turned out good from down at our family farm in KY

Looked at it and walked in the house. Its raining outside, No work on her today! :(

My mom got bad gas in her 94 XJ and it ended up frying the ECU. I was young when it happened, so i don't know what her symptoms were.

I'm Aaron, Also know as FlexdXJ or the MWC postwhore if you're on a certain XJ forum! :D The XJ now has more lift, more tire, more armor and more stickers!
-
Well, I got the radio working in her. TUrns out the etc fuse was blown so it was not getting power to the radio. Now I need to see if I can fix the motor knock so I can drive it more than around the block! :wrench:

Rock iron uca lca double shear track bar
FlexdXJ replied to Comanchero87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you Mean Iron Rock by chance? If so, Yes, I have experience with the track bar, Its beef and simple to install. I run it on my XJ and once I lift the MJ a bit it'll probably get one too. It won't really need one because its gonna be my camping truck/mall crawler but a little overkill never hurt anything! :D -
stereo head unit wont work.

Check the ETC fuse, Mine would not get power to the hot wire. I pulled the ETC fuse and sure enough it was shot. -
Anyone running a 3.4 with an OD transmission?
FlexdXJ replied to FlexdXJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just in the planning phase right now. I just want the truck to be a good runner. The body is awesome on the truck and I already have an XJ that i wheel so i'm gonna save this one from a beating! Basically want the truck to be a solid rig to take to jeep club events/parts runs and for camping. Obviously i'm gonna have to adapt the shifter linkages to work with the set up as well as get the shaft either shortened or lengthened. I am thinking a 3.4 out of a 93-95 Fbody with a 700R4/231c out of an S-series.will work for what i want. Trying to get Decent MPG's out of the truck as well. It is a jeep and it is a truck so thats a lot to ask for! :D
