Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. I thought C6 as the easiest route but I do want OD just in case i want to road trip it for a camping expedition.
  2. I know all about 8.8 swaps, I have one laying in the garage for my XJ! :D I didn't realize that explorers ever had a 5.0 in them. is the trans hydraulic?
  3. Never heard of it.............:D Haha, kidding, I posted it there too. I believe you are around the Chicago area, correct? I am the MWC postwhore, Wade will agree!
  4. Sorry, should have mentioned it has to be an auto. I believe the older AOD trans is hydraulic so getting it to work won't be an issue other than fitment. As for chevy swaps, I would do a 5.3 or 6.0. Truthfully, All its gonna be is a putting around truck it doesn't need to make nasty power, just get me to the camping spot or fishing hole. My Subie, once i get the overheating issues lined out, will be the fun toy! :D
  5. Has anyone done one? I have a line on one out of a fox body with the computer for cheap. I figure if nobody wants to buy my damn truck I may as well replace the 2.8 with a 5.0! :D I'm wondering what trans(auto) I should use with it. its mainly gonna be my back burner play toy as I have my XJ and Subie to drive as well.
  6. Way to go Dude!
  7. I'm afraid its well past thicker oil being of any help. He said he put rotella in it and tried to quiet the knock. Hoping I can have the crank machined for oversize bearings and replace the mains while i'm in there. If I can't its motor swappin' time! :D Damn, why can't this be a 4 banger or an 87 with a 4.0!
  8. I sold my TJ and then realized that the Miata was worth substantially more than I paid for it. So, I traded it and got this today: Ford finally pulled their head out of their butt, that coyote motor is rowdy! :ack:
  9. I agree with everyone else, adjustable is a must. I would also suggest a double shear setup if you plan on doing a lot of wheeling with it. I have Iron Rock's double shear adjustable on the XJ and i will have one on my MJ as well.
  10. Well, we started tearing into her a couple days ago. Got the pan dropped and the y-pipe cut out of the way. at a stopping point right now because my buddy has his kids this weekend. Got the crappy wally world lights replaced with these: Cost me a whole 22 bucks for Hella 500FF's! :D
  11. Thanks dude! She's coming along nicely! You got some nice looking rust free rigs too! :D
  12. I live in Richmond. You joined a great club. Tell Cardboard I said hello. Ha, Mike is a good Buddy of mine. He was the one who convinced me to join. He is also the one who hauled my MJ to my house!
  13. My 97 is the same way! As for wanting power windows in a 97+ XJ, get ready for the switches to go bad on you. My First 97 XJ was that way. Mine also came with an idiot light cluster. Mine is oddly optioned. Its a sport with fogs, manual windows and locks, full cluster, and cruise.
