Buy a JCR and be done with it is what i'd say but if you just buy some JCR tie-in brackets you'd be fine. The JCR bumper is made to take that extra thickness into account already. Still had to beat on the bumper mounts with a hammer to get mine to fit. A little massaging with a hammer *should* work!

Yeah I'll get a pic of it. I only paid $450 for this truck BTW! :D Got the dash all torn apart trying to find out whats up with the hot wire for the radio, the fuse is there but its not working. Also, is it normal for the metal behind the dash to be rusty? I'm thinking this truck may have been under water which would explain the motor knocking! :wrench:

Well after 3 weeks of waiting on the idiot to finally sell it to me and getting my Jeep stuck trying to pull it out of his yard on Easter, I got it! 86 LWB, 2.8, A904, (nmot sure on T-case), w/ 66k on the clock and a knocking motor. It also has a sweet gunrack behind the seat that is staying there. I am thinking of doing a series 3 3800 swap into it but we'll see what thats gonna run. first. I still need to finish the XJ.

Thanks for the info man, It seems to run good even though the compression is a little low in one cylinder. Gonna drive it before I hand him the cash because its gotta make it 30 miles home. I still have the XJ as my DD/Wheeler, so no worries on it being an everyday vehicle.

Well, as some of you know, I am what you would call a postwhore on a certain website dealing with XJ's! :D Well, I will finally have an MJ here in a couple days and I know ZERO about the 2.8 it has in it other than its not very desirable. I look forward to learning more about the engine as well as some MJ specific stuff and wheeling with some of you guys other than that 89elimintaor character! :nuts: BTW the truck is an 86 4wd longbed with the 2.8 and torque flight 904 auto. It has a factory rollbar and 65k miles though! :clapping:

HID's are by far one of the best things I have done to my XJ, My MJ will be getting a set soon along with an upgraded harness. I went with 5000k on my XJ and I think i'm gonna go with 4500k on the MJ because the 5000k are a little too blue for my taste. Also who said the DDM raptor ballasts keep going out? I have had mine in going on a year and a half and no issues with bulbs or ballasts. They are Bright, ask Wade! :D I would love to do a retro fit on one or both of the rigs but the majority of my extra money goes to the XJ. And just because I finally have an MJ:
