duster1971 replied to MancheKid86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
May have been a mt package with a leaf added. I had to go check mine 4+1 on my 86mt. Have you checked the vin to see if its an original mt package? -
Wonderd what all is involved in swaping the clips out. Seen on another post there is some trimming involved. What might the trimming be? Do i have to have the doors to ?because they are not on the 97xj. i know there is another thread going on this but i didnt want to steal it for my own questions. As usual any help is much apriciated.

My dad had a set of the nexan roadian m/t. They actualy were a decent tire in the mud. But not near as good as the bf goodrich m/t. Or even the bf goodrich a/t.

If i am reading your post corectly you are wanting to run 31" tires and you are not going to be wheeling the mj hard and binding it much. I am currently running 31" tires on my completly stock mj and have no issues puting it in a prety good bind. Especialy in the rear if worried about the front i wuld recomend 1.5-2" spacers nuthing spectacular but shuld leval front and rear and give you no issues. That shuld give you an idea of how hard you can flex a stock mj with 31" ers. Front and rear hit the bumpstopes before rubing.

taking the air box out question.
duster1971 replied to Waytec's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is no need to block the opening no exaust gases come out of there just warm air basicly where it attaches is a heat shealed doubled to help heat the air charge to get a smother idle in cold weather. I had mine takin off on my mj my dakota and my xj just to name a few no ill effects. -
Looking to upgrade the bumper question?
duster1971 replied to Waytec's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I relocated mine to the engin bay on my xj did away with it on my mj because it broke. Found a vacume line spliced it with a t section and hooked it up that way. Like was mentiond above you will have no heater controls other than fan and temp will be stuck on defrost. -

I am wanting to make a diy snorkle for my 86 2.5l mj and noticed that the radiator overflow catch tank is right where i need to make the opening in the fender. What i am wondering is 1. Is this a presurized system? And 2. Can i just find another smaller catch can for the job? Any help apriciated.

Got a question about my BA-10/5
duster1971 replied to ParadiseMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
1. I don't like penzoil everything I have run it in has gumed up just my experiance. I recomend using some rottela. 2. Lucas is great it does make the oil last longer and adhere better. 3.the only way I have ever had them cleaned was at a trans shop they flushed it for me. 4. Do not over fill the trans it will create higher presures with in and blow seals creating an awful mess. And if you run lucase it will keep oil on the gears syncros and bearings at all time. -
Sorry it took so long to reply. Temperd is the new style all older cars used lam safty glass. I will have my buddy check and see what its going to cost to have one cut. To clarify older is anything below 74. Evin then some auto company's used temperd. I also have a friend that worked at a glass shop and he has a friend that owns one.

Flooded on warm start - STILL NEED HELP

I was unaware of the cut of in the injectorpulse in the renix system. I retract my previouse statement and apologize if I came across rude. Did the sensor help with the issue? -
Flooded on warm start - STILL NEED HELP
duster1971 replied to tj21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
May not be flooding it culd be the distrib advancing to far and causing a hard crank. Holding the pedle down will not help unflood an engine. But flows more air. My ford did the same thing for a while. -
I'm thinking those are isuzu mirrors. As they look exactly like mine. The cover will come off just apply more pressure but don't be excesive.

I had this issue with my old xj the shrowd ended up going. Didn't help turns out that the new trans mount I got was bad (took a radiator for me to figure this out) just remember to check that again word of advice new isn't always new if ya get what I mean.

Pump on top sounds like it may be from a dokota my 87 dakota tank was held the same as a swb mj so that culd be it.

stereo head unit wont work.
duster1971 replied to bajajunkie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The way I ran my constant was from the battery and thru a plug n the fire wall with a fusable link. Reason I do it this waY is I had a 89 honda accord that I hacked into the wire harnes to get a constant and for some reason had a small dash fire from then on out if I had no power I run from the battery. -
