    I saw someone posted on this a while back, but what were the years that had the desired knuckles on the front axles? I think the last year was 1989. Thanks for the help.

    Good luck! I know you want to keep it the way your dad had it, but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to swap in a 4cyl out of a TJ or something. That way it will be easier to get parts and diagnose issues.

    Last Friday (April 19th) I bought a 4:10 D35 with an LSD, a D30 with gears to match, factory power mirrors, side marker lights, a 5in lift, and sway bar disconnects from a family friend who was parting out an 1986 XJ Chief. I will be keeping everything except the rear axle. The lift is for a Cherokee, but I will combine the two in order to get the lift I want. PM me for details about the rear end if you are interested.
