  1. how screwed am I that this plastic end piece has snapped? any chance it's the same linkage as the floor shift?
  2. far as I know you can't do just a dash swap. you'll need to do the complete 97+ swap, engine/harness/etc.
  3. the hole is right at the centerline

yup, just a plain ol' dual florescent 4 footer. the pic is from nearly 20 years ago, I've since upgraded to a modern LED bar.

can't remember if I ever shared this image so here's my favorite way to light the engine bay.
  6. I get 2" from the edge to the center of the hole
  7. love the cheap fixes.
  8. it's TX. how rusty can it be?
  9. car-part.com might help find a 4.10er. be sure to search for various years since the website sorts them purely by part number and that changed over the years. also look for TJ units.
  10. score! I've got so much stuff in the barn I do the same thing.
  11. it's ideas like this that make me wish I didn't have that plastic bedliner.
  12. looks good, especially with the color of the truck

    Thank you!

  14. finally got the welding done to your hitch plates using the Expedition crossbar. I love it hugs right up to the bottom of the stock bumper.
  15. has to do with the way various phones and cameras save the photo's orientation. apparently not all devices save it the same way. very weird. but I fixed it for ya. I find I can rotate the image, then rotate it back and my laptop will re-save the orientation.
  16. yup, those are the choices. none are especially awesome. -used MJ shafts are getting hard to find and most every possible drivetrain has a different length. -custom shafts from Dennys or Adams aren't especially cheap, but they are much stronger than factory. maybe you have a shop locally to you that can make one? -2wd shafts are weird and have a rubber isolator on the axle end. it's possible to shorten them (I did), but you have to cut the t-case end and then hope the rubber is still good enough after 35 years. the link in my signature has a thread with all the various MJ driveshaft lengths.
  17. always ask "why are they selling these". very possible he messed one up and is upgrading his own stuff accordingly.
  18. I think we have a thread on youtube racing vids?
  19. ujoints are ujoints and wheelbearings are wheelbearings. those sorts of things can be handled by any competent shop. it's the wiring and computers where I highly suggest getting your hands on one of NickinTime's engine monitors. finding a shop that knows a 35 year old Renix is a real long shot.
  20. I'm a stickler for protecting ears. his family refers to it as an "uncle Pete hat".
  21. fun fact, the hole in the floor for the 4x4 shifter assembly has little to do with the location of the hole in the carpet for the handle to stick though.
  22. finally got my nephew to the local airport with the playground. swings and planes. life is good.
  23. yeah, it's not the best program. kinda a pain in the butt.
  24. also noteworthy is that #8 is a different bolt than #10. not sure if that factors at all into your specific problem, but I got to learn it earlier today.
