for the 88 I'm working on I coated the top and bottom around the weak pinhole areas with POR15 and later added a blob of seam sealer to top and bottom. mostly because those were the tools I was using for other areas anyways and so they were on hand.

month old fuel is practically brand new fuel. unless it's been open to the air it should be fine.

last time I had to do it, I brought 12v to the pump and used it to pump out the gas. but inspecting the pump is never a bad thing. don't forget that if the gas level is above the pump, it'll make a giant mess in your face if you pull the pump out. how old is the gas in the tank? how much gas is in the tank?

unfortunately the longbeds printouts usually say 20gal (which is the XJ tank) and I change them all to 23. I figure if someone is replacing it, they should hunt down the 23. plus if I remember right, the 16 and 23 are the exact same tank, just the 16 has a longer tube which prematurely cuts off the fuel input.

yet another brilliant solution to the no-cupholders dilemma.

sorta. the belts punch through the bench seat at 90* to what the bucket seat belts are orientated to. it's honestly very weird to me.

seatbelt sheaths? they disintegrate pretty easily over the decades but I managed to snag what might be a part number off of a part of one in the garage

what's your budget? time frame to completion? do you have a garage to work in?

look at that smile! the fact that the car is sorta captured by a rail did nothing to dampen her excitement of her first time driving. the previous photo was their second time around where she took he brother for a spin. below is a photo of me during my first solo ride many decades earlier.

yup I've heard both sides too. it's not even like southeast michigan has -40 temps either. they just sucked. maybe the opinion is based on whatever they had before? I'd wager that new BFGs are way better than 30k mile summer tires. I did love my previous gen BFG ATs though (back in '97). very good in the snow.

make sure they are what the seller says they are. wouldn't be the first time someone confused a 30 and 44.

I can vouch for that. mine were a deathtrap in the snow. I use it as a relative term.

reliability > toughness. before you get crazy with the plans, you're going to want to go through EVERYTHING. twice. chances are slim that your dana 30 is going to be the thing that leaves you stranded if you're still rocking ancient cooling and fuel systems. the link in my signature has a link to Cruiser54's wiring tips. start there and do all that apply.
