  1. I never broke down my 96 4.0 enough to check (just pulled the head and saw the damage and stopped). dang.

does it just screw down to the bed? seems in this case that might be easy, just cut off the top of the bed and grind off the screws from the underside
  3. need your VIN in order for the dealership guys to look up your truck's details
  4. my basic understanding of automotive electrical systems is that your battery provides the power and your alternator recharges the battery. so the 50 amps might be just fine because your battery has more than enough reserve power to fire up the fans (and then the alternator will replace it while the fans are running).
  5. welcome to the addiction! my honest suggestion is to pump the breaks on alterations and get to know the truck first. make it a reliable daily driver before you go modding things. it's 3 decades old and big tires don't make the fuel pump work or keep the engine cool. the link in my sig has Cruiser's MJ tips. do all of them. They cover most all of the known issues with wiring and more.
  6. been a bit since I've ducked my head under the rear of an XJ, but I don't remember a lot of room for bags.
  7. so THAT'S what that chunk of plastic is for. a wheel chock!
  8. a rare breed for sure.
  9. that's a big ol' pile of goodies there
  10. at least post that up in the Pub so more eyeballs will see it.

    Florida?

if you get a potential date lined up, be sure to post in the Pub too, as more eyeballs will see it. and bonus points if you use the members map to @ a bunch of the locals

you'll likely be seeing my MJ trailer, but an MJ none the less. hopefully I can get the KJ reliable soon so I'd at least have that instead of the Durango.
  13. @krustyballer16 are they making your plating yet?
  14. no apology necessary. we love to see updates on the old iron, even if they've been chillin' in the side yard. if you need anything, just let us know.
  15. when in doubt, be sure to quote one of his posts or type @ and then his screen name as Jesse did and he should get an email alert.
  16. I went through and edited some of the more common coding errors for example, you don't have a 5spd auto, as Chrysler reused that code on a later Jeep.
  17. Neat! But did it always have that weird dash badge? That's not the correct one.
  18. The explorer is an inch more narrow than stock MJ, the Liberty is a couple wider. I like the Liberty because the extra width accommodates the MJ's wide backside (that's why the rear tires always look "tucked" compared to an XJ). Both are good axles. If you're lucky, car-part.com might be able to find you a 4.10 liberty axle. They only came under 4banger gas libbys in certain years. 3.73 is infinitely more common. '02 libbys have drums so avoid those.

I can't say no to an MJ meet up
  20. and you can add a small angled shim later if it's off enough to cause vibrations
  21. my dakota had 3.92s and was an absolute demon. I'd go 4.10s to bring on the smiles (though I'd also never spend that coin on a 35. invest your cash in a better axle to upgrade. ) the Explorer 8.8 can be had with 4.10s and posi. the MJ/XJ 44 is a great choice too, as is the Liberty 8.25 or 97+ XJ 8.25. all either come with disks or can be easily converted with junkyard parts.
  22. how badly are they damaged? there's a company called Key Parts that's rolling out replacement lenses for Comanches, though we don't have a timeline yet.
