  1. gearing will make all the difference

  3. I edited out the common coding mistakes. for example, you don't have rack and pinion steering. that's a reused code.
  4. check with https://www.phoenixgraphix.com/amc/8792jcmp.php
  5. I'd rather have the 20 just as strong and way cooler looking
  6. The hood catch bits can be found in any xj 87-96 for sure and maybe even 97-01 too but I don't know for sure. 87-90 wranglers still had the carbed 4.2 and in 91 they got the 4.0 HO so a surprising small amount of their parts are useful to us.
  7. Nice! you're getting spoiled with all the interior space

As in a screenshot of the old formats? I don't think I ever thought ahead to save such a thing. maybe Google saved something? the 2005 forums would have looked similar to what you see now (assuming you're using a laptop since clearly the mobile version didn't exist yet) but with a different truck image in the corner. The Yahoo groups were an email based system so essentially all I looked at most days was my hotmail.
  9. "Fulltime"? could be considered that. "Job"? no. Jobs earn money. This a passion/hobby. I give my energy when I find some. But I can't hand out free beds. The parts side of the hobby has to at least break even.
  10. figured it out. this is the group: "Jeep Cherokee XJ For Sale, parts, and Lifts"
  11. got it back into the driveway successfully. I imagine that means at least nothing is outright broken. but I never let it come to a stop in gear (locked up at the exact moment I stopped last time). but whatever. I'm not going to be able to really dig into it for a couple weeks and am happy it both moved under its own power and is back on concrete. baby steps.

  13. yeah, you might need a FB account to see it
  14. nice! you can even use that temporary wall as tool storage for few items
  15. my route has gone through several iterations because my own goals have changed. I was going up the east coast, but now I appear to need to hit Indianapolis and St Louis on the return trip to pick up things that require a trailer. so maybe the spring trip is to the west of I-75 and then I make an east trip around the All Breeds show? but honestly, the only real must-do is getting to my dentist in Michigan to re-fix my tooth. but I still need to pull out all my beds and snap good photos etc before I can even think about prices. and I'm out of town next week doing family stuff so it'll be after that until I can make progress on that front. so essentially I'm a bit ahead of myself, but figured sooner is better than later for getting ideas of what this sort of "business model" should look like.
  16. the bug deflector and mudflaps still show as available when I click on it. what is it that you see?
  17. looking for ideas on how to do all this craziness. this isn't going to be a drop-off-a-bed-to-pay-for-my-already-planned-trip-north like before, I need to rent a uhaul trailer (one I've never rented before) and haul/sell as much as I can in one fell swing to prove this is a profitable thing in order to justify another trip in the future. If I can't make money to buy more beds, this for sure isn't happening again. the trip is still a month away and I'm looking for pointers or ideas from y'all. I'm trying to limit it to around 40 hours of driving in 5 days. I feel that for a trip this complicated I should be asking for downpayments of some kind? and do I prioritize first come first served, or do I prioritize my route and then pick who gets lucky? I have other things to sell that would be rough to ship and I was thinking I'd have a minimum price per visit (unless you were seriously right on the way). I'm not keen on adding hours to my drive to sell a 50 buck part. what else am I missing? I want to help my fellow rustbucket owners, I need to make money, but I really need to cover my butt. I'm thinking on renting the trailer for a day, just to see how well a bed fits and how many tiedown locations it has.
