you can build anything you want, it just takes steel. can't remember who, but a couple guys on CC have done it kinda recently. years ago I carved up the bed on my wheeler for more clearance. soon after I regretted it because I found it completely unnecessary, but then I made peace with it because it's a rusty hunk of rust that drops rust every time you touch it. I could easily have fabbed a bumper that offered protection rather than thinking I needed to emulate the serious rock crawlers since I don't drive my truck like that.

I'm just pointing out that a 6" guy doesn't fit in a 6ft bed. that's why I have a 7ft trailer. armor it up and go! if I found myself getting stuck a lot, then I might consider a chop. but I'd for sure try it out first. by the way, this used to be an offroad trailer. the previous owner had it lifted 6" on 33s and dragged it all over the place. I wish he had armored it, but at least he never hacked anything. it wasn't hard to pound out the dents in the lower quarters. looked like this when I bought it (dropped down to regular height of course or I couldn't have pulled it home)

"head restraints" is likely the shoulder belts
  5. replacing a 40 year old booster is always a good idea. be sure to look up the brake bleeding procedure in the link in my sig because it's different than most any other car in existence (has to do with the rear height-sensing prop valve).
  6. if we had more threads per day, we would have done that years ago. but honestly if you go past the first 2 pages, you get into things that are over a month old and likely no longer for sale (just people haven't said anything and so I haven't removed them).
  7. needs just a little less toe-out
  8. someone on fb asked about the different grills over the years and that got me thinking that we should have something that at least tries to keep track of that sort of thing. which years had which trims, or interior colors, or whatever we want. the info is in our heads, but it'd be nice to have a digi copy. kinda like a wiki but more useful and more accurate. thoughts? or do we have something like this already and I'm forgetting about it. 'cause that happens a lot more than you might think.
  9. yeah, 500+ pounds of gas will get you deeeeeep into the woods might be hard to sleep in the back after installation though.

    Sheesh (#3,247)

my grandmother would get flareups in her hands too. it sucks.
  11. also raybuck.com makes seatcovers for certain benches.
  12. plain jane copper plugs do work best
  13. seems you just need a tape measure reading of where you want to put it and go find one that size I'd wager you could get a rather large amount of gas on board if you went with a straight-up rectangular tank. plus then you could have a fuel pump that's easily replaceable!
  14. lower shock mount. it's specific to MJs, is mirrored left to right (meaning if you snapped a drivers side, you need a drivers side), and only available used. another option is to slice off the offending shock bolt and just weld a new bolt in its place.
  15. now go find a good use for it!
  16. maybe because there's always a way to go about this without doing so? you don't need 6x9s in the door for good sound.

  20. maybe? I generally prefer not to because taking the whole body means renting a trailer twice (one to fetch it and once to dispose of it). but an XJ is different than an MJ and I've gotta read up on the various bits that go bad and what someone would need. I dunno. keep me posted I'm sure we can figure something out.
  21. ahhhhh, for a second there I thought I was looking at a large banner of some sort.
  22. what exactly am I looking at?
  23. if you type an @ then immediately start typing the name, it'll look like this: @MarianneM and send a notice to them that you replied. to send a private message, I think you tap on the name, then hit on "message" in the pop up menu.
