No specific purpose. I bought it to replace my Geo and I needed better gas mileage than the Suburban got. Then I got caught up in the wheeling thing, and now with 33x12.50s my mileage is down the drain. But I also have a stick shift Cherokee now that is pretty good on gas so no biggie.

I had to pick the last one on the list :teehee:

I bought my truck for a truck,,, thats what it is and what its used for.. Maybe in the near future I can get me a another truck for hauling and start to street mine up.... So I guess work truck is its purpose...

I got tired of tearing up the leather on my DD and getting grease all over the carpets.

So when I was looking for a work truck, I just couldn't resist the chance to build a wheeler too!

I apparently buy a new MJ to fill each need. :D

but where's the "storage locker" option? That's all my 86 has done for 4 years now. :shake:

Mine has most of the interior, and all the wiring out of my XJ in it. I filled the cab to the roof, I had to shove the last of it in through the window, which I rolled up most of the way to the top so it would stop stuff from pouring out.

Otherwise, I bought it as a DD, turned it into a wheeler/DD, got annoyed with the weekend warrior limitations, built it into a specific trail rig, broke it, then put it on the back-burner. I'm estimating my XJ to be done by 2014, so I'll start working on it in early 2015.

It was my 1st vehicle when i got my license and also was my Quad hauler for the past 5 years, I now have a 96 XJ for Hauling duty and my MJ is still my main DD and slowly becoming slightly more off road friendly

I bought my current(3rd) one after I bought the wife the WJ. Didn't need two big cars, and I really missed driving the truck.

I had to go with "all of the above" as my wife liked to shot me when I took her Sebring wheeling cause my stuff was broken.

It's what I drive when my TJ is busted or I'm working on upgrades on it.... also used to take stuff to the dump, or haul bigger stuff around, not a Daily Driver, not really a wheeler, yet...

mostly DD since the nissan has the child car seat, so my wife uses that most of the time...but also cause i move around too much crap to not have a truck. wheeler? when i have the time and money for it...

At first I bought a xj then I started to like MJ´s so I trade my xj plus $1000 for the MJ I really like the truck I never had a 4x4 before the xj and this mj is awesome, I just use it ocasionally on weekends and to carry some stuff to keep building my house.

But the main use of this truck on weekends is on the dunes.

I'm on my 3rd MJ because their not main-stream. Kind of a dare to be different thing. Other than the ocassional drive to the woods or taking a 160 pound dog to the corner market with me I reaaly don't need it. Actually been thinking about selling it, but, as soon as I do I know the lawn mower will need to hauled to the shop.

It does all of the above for me as my daily driver....

Get's me wherever I need to go all the time, hasn't let me down offroad, burns rice when necessary and hauls serious payloads. What more can you ask? :dunno:

:D

It basically takes up room in the shop! And that’s about it!! But it suppose to be a weekend wheeler except ive been busy doing other things on the weekends! I drove it all last week and it got over 20mpg!! Yeah!!!

I have used my truck since I have owned it for everything but serious rock crawling. And thats only because there is not good places free range where I am at.

I picked WW since that's the closest choice to my actual purpose.

I got my MJ/Camper to support the pit crew work I do in the SCORE Baja series of desert races. We work with a well-known racing team (Desert Assassins), and have for 2009 a sponsorship by a well-known off-road lighting company (KC HiLiGHTS).

We run a "flex pit" operation, where we specialize in setting up a mini-village somewhere BFE, and handling just about any problem for the range of vehicles that participate under the DA banner (Trophy Truck, buggy, 7sx Truck, MCs, etc.). As such, we'll often be carrying wheel/tire combos to fit four different vehicles, fuel and fluids of various types, spare parts (up to and including transmissions), high-intensity lights, generators and welding gear, etc. etc.

Here's an example of one of our recent set-ups (only 50km out in the desert, last month it was 80km out):

Unfortunately, the only pics I have of my rig are during the pre- and post-race festivities:

And I'll post this picture:

just because I can! :brows:

In addition, we operate on a "hospitality" basis (in part supported by the KC sponsorship), so that we never turn any vehicle away (though maybe all they'll get is a shoulder to cry on, a cerveza or three, a makeshift sleeping site, and plenty of desert to piss in). But we did tear down and rebuild the top end for this Uruguayan guy, who seemed to appreciate our efforts:

I also use the rig for weekend desert camping with my son, and just got back from a foray into the Anza-Borrego Desert.

Those are some really good pictures, summerinmaine.

I mostly just use mine to take up space in the carport, garage, and tool shed all at once. I tried to drive it to work one time, back in stock configuration, and it didn't wanna.
