ordering metal ring 5/8" OD,1/2" ID and 3/8" length. 10 of them to help center my rear rotor up.

and contacting to my best friend's dad(steelworker) to see if he can make metal wedge and/or cut and drill it up for me to fix my annoying bowing front coils.

Finally replaced the tired stretched original MJ e-brake cables that didn't perform with the recent D44 axle install. I used new AC Delco flex cables and modded them to give me plenty of adjustment for the Ford Explorer disk internal e-brake. It's now a true emergency brake as it should be, not just for parking. Smoke tested by slamming it on at 50 MPH and it stopped quickly. Not locking the rear wheels, but was a nice controlled stop.

I swapped out all the shocks with KYB gas-a just shocks that I got from a wrecked 86. The shocks were only 6 mos. old so they are like new. I also installed the spare tire mount mechanism from the 86 since my cable was snapped. I swapped in my rotating receiver bar due to the 86 being a LB and the bar is much longer.

I took apart the D44 drum brakes for a full inspection. I cleaned up all the hardware and installed new wheel cylinders. I have never worked on brakes before and putting it all back together correctly was a lesson in patience. I think Mike Rowe should work on brakes for his next Dirty Jobs episode. What a dusty, rusty mess. :wrench:

Replaced old seized fan clutch with a new thermal clutch. It spins!

Replaced both u-joints on rear driveshaft. Used the cheapo Harbor Freight press thing and have to admit it worked pretty well. Was my first successful u-joint replacement (had some issues with the front d-shaft!) so I was pleased I was able to do it myself.

Removed front d-shaft. Am trying to track down a high speed vibration and can't seem to find it. I've replaced nearly everything that moves. Maybe time to look at the tires again, maybe a weight detached :dunno:

In for inspection either today or tomorrow, fingers crossed it passes with no drama :ack:

Today I greased the nipples, replaced the rear bumper license plate light cover.

Went to check the oil filter adapter to see what I need to replace the o rings.

And this is what I saw,

The oil filter gasket sticking out, Ummm, might be why I've been going through so much Mobil 1.

I noticed also when I backed up the rear end squealed a bit, that can't be good.

The POR15 paint job didn't survive the winter to well.

.

.

Repainted the bumper with flat black. The dark spots are where the paint hasn't quite dried.

.

.

Cleaned a spare carpet with a rug shampoo machine, scary how dirty the water was after cleaning it.

.

.

Looking a lot beter now.
